I used to be the biggest fanatic of GSM, until I did the stupidity of getting a 2 year contract with T-mobile which is done this Monday, and not soon enough. I am most definitely switching over to versizon and CDMA. CDMA orks better than GSM but you loose the international ability... But for that just buy another phone just for traveling.

GSM isnt really superior at all. Its the old-school style, and not nearly as secure as CDMA.

Eventually, a unified standard will come out (I think thats HSPA?) and that should be going to ALL carriers...

It will be called LTE, AT&T and Verizon are both rolling it out Q4 of this year and a lot in 2011.
GSM v. CDMA is mostly about the world travel factor, but even then 90% of CDMA phones have the ability to work on GSM networks around the world.

I think that if you're on Verizon, the Droid is the better bet, especially since it'll be running Android 2.1 also, soon.

Other than that, its pretty snappy, but it brings nothing new to the table. If you desperately want a phone w/ Android WITHOUT a keyboard and you're on Verizon, then its the way to go. Otherwise, Droid wins.

Furthermore, the unlocked one I believe has both radios, for CDMA and GSM access.

Personally, I think its fairly boring and nothing too special. But, its also their first offering - we'll see how it goes for the next one :)

Oh yeah, here's the AT&T going Android thing:

Ahh, LTE - thanks.

LTE will be better for all of us - phones will all use the same radios (and, hence, be able to roam to different carriers easily), and production should be somewhat cheaper since they'll all be using the same ****. Not that we'll notice it Im sure :)

I'm on ATT, so anything that primed to Verizon is useless to me. :ugh2:

Thats why I want to unlock it. So I can use it wherever, cause I do go overseas, and I don't wanna have to get another phone just for that.

Edit: And that link was dead.

My wife and I got one each yesterday. It's nice having the internet in your pocket. I made 370Z, the home page.

^^^ ive had mine for about 2 or 3 weeks.. and I love this thing. I am such an anti-fruit guy, that its nice to know there is more options than the I-phone. No complains on the phone so far, everything works great, even the camera which most said it takes 2 years to load up and zoom, works very well.

Only thing I am starting to not enjoy is the physical keyboard. I can actually type faster on the virtual than the real one. But its good to have one just in case.
