tommy, go to a blank space on your desktop and hold down a finger on it till a menu pops up, at the bottom it says "wallpapers", click that then click "live wallpapers" then choose the one you want.

Wow that was easy thanks bro, I was reading all these different post on other forums and I was totally lost. You can't believe what they were saying that you needed to do.
Thanks again,
Tom

Rofl, that is one back-assward way of doing it...

Just click the settings button (second from the left...) at any of your desktops. A pop-up will come, with a wallpaper option.

6 of one, half dozen of the other :P

If all of you have not tried it yet, I recommend downloading "handscent SMS".

The benefits of this become immediately noticeable upon first use. You can set the notification light to be about 6 different colors. In addition, you can set a standard color for all your contacts and a specific color for a certain person. (For example, a text from my family comes with a blue notification, friends are green, and co-workers are orange). Besides the notification lights, you can also download all attachments from all text messages with a click of the button. It never Force Closes on me and is one of the best additions to the phone so far.

Just picked up the Motorola Droid last night. I'm coming from an old non-smart phone so I'm still overwhelmed by all you can do.

Does this application work with Google Voice?

Just take your time. I used a Blackberry for months beforehand, so it was a bit easier for me. My Ex-gf only had dumb phones, and it took her some time...but she loves it now.

Thanks. I was already with Verizon so all my contacts and voice mail stuff was setup for me at purchase time. I already had gmail and google talk so that stuff worked out of the box. Luckily it has a slide-out keyboard -- I suck at using the virtual keyboard

The wide virtual KB isnt too bad...thin mode sucks though. Especially with a screen protector.

My battery useage has dropped by at least 50% since the 2.1 upgrade. I'm a happy camper!

For those who just bought the Droid or are contemplating any new phone, I would wait a few more weeks for the HTC Incredible. I've been waiting on this phone or the Nexus One to be released for about 2 months now, and it looks like the Incredible is coming out on the 26th!

Verizon's HTC Incredible coming April 25? (update: 29th in Best Buys?) -- Engadget Mobile
