I have not had an issue. It doesn't get as bitter cold here though. The capacitor version is supposed to work better in extreme environments, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's having trouble with minus F temps.

Also, did you purchase it through the Spytec site or from a random vendor on Amazon? Knock-off dash cams are very popular in this price category. Not that this is some high end name brand product, but the knock-offs are just made with inferior parts that don't last.

I had a great morning drive in today. It was a sunny 29 out and no ******* drivers.

Amazon. but I double checked with spytecs site and it's legitimate looking.

Any good knock-off is legitimate looking. The components inside usually have to be inspected from what I read. Some vendors I'm sure are fine. But if you went with the cheapest option, you may have gotten screwed. The scam vendors typically undercut by a few bucks just to entice buyers.

I probably did knowing my luck. i just grabbed the one either you or Kenchan linked from Amazon haha. It's not a big deal. Was only $60. Was just curious. As long as it works, I'm happy.

Pretty sure I linked the Spytec site. But yeah, I figured for $60, I could at least test it for myself. But I definitely haven't had any issues with the function of the unit. The only thing I dislike is if I let the car sit for too long (more than a few days it seems), it can't hold the charge and all the settings like the date and time stamp reset. Just an excuse to make sure I drive it regularly :)

To drive the Z tomorrow or not to. The weather is supposed to be in the 50's and sunny. But there is minimal de-icer or none in most areas. I am having withdrawls only after a week.
