when he was home he'd be napping or went out golfing.. or used me to do gardening...

i think next year im going to travel more for biz now dat the kids are a bit bigger.

Yeah, I'm going to take about 8weeks off when baby is born then resume traveling but I'm staying close. I'll be an hr flight away or 5.5 hr drive so the commute won't be terrible.

My company is also pretty flexible with travel so if I need to cut my week short or work from home I can do so as needed.

dats good, even closer is better. i did biz trips but most were one day trips, or at max, only one overnight stay. :) with web based conferences these days, it wasnt too bad.

i suppose you have relatives close by? that would be good. mine are 5k+ away and my wife works too, so i tried to be as close by as much as possible.

Yeah, we both grew up in the area and our family and friends are all close by. We're planning for my wife to go back to work but we'll see what the dynamics are like when the time comes. I'm more inclined to have her stay home if I'm away 3nights a week.

 considering how much daycare costs it might be better for your wife to stay home. i was paying like 850-1000 per kid a month.
