admiral_picard's reader review of Need for Speed: Shift for Xbox 360

I wouldn't recommend it. It's fun, but there are too many problems.

And he doesn't mention that you will spend more time on load screens that actually playing the game. I've played xbox and xbox 360 since they came out, and I've never met load screens this long.

i had it for PS3 and liked it, took me about 2 weeks to complete then i traded it in

only big complaint i had was you had to go through like 10 menus and screens at the first before you get into the actual game..

i give it a 7 out of 10

i will say that the interior designs are FAR superior to Forza 3 but everything else wasnt as polished

I would agree. I love the game despite the errors it has. I would just recommend that one waits before getting it. I do not feel that it is worth $60. It is good to try out, and the interior view is cool. I have tried Forza 3, and I will probably be getting it soon as well.

The graphics are pretty but don't care for the unrealistic handling much.

LOL, I feel you. I had about 15 minutes to kill before heading out to work this morning and I wanted to just get a taste of the game by playing in arcade mode real quick. However, I just couldn't sit through 40382402 movies/menus since you can't even fastforward or skip them.

Long story short, I have yet to actually play the game.

i was gonna ask... i played the demo as well, the constant camera jarring etc,
after a couple of days doesnt that give you a headache?
thats one of the reasons i didnt buy it.

Well, that's why I always "borrow" the game first from the internet before going out and shelling out a couple of hard earned Jackson's.

I'll have to agree with OP here.... This game is WAY overrated on most sites. I saw the vids and reviews and decided to give it a shot... most dissapointing game I think I've bought ever. And since I'm a ps3 owner, I still go to gt5p if I wanna drive. (If I had a 360 I would check out forza3)... Just wish polyphony would quit slackin and get gt5 out already...

It does get a lot of good reviews, but I was just notifying people of the problems with it. If you just play a demo with all of the "handicaps" on, it is great. When you turn braking, steering, stability, etc helpers off, it is damn near impossible. And there are little issues everywhere. Those kind of things drive me nuts when I pay $60 bucks for the game. I was just letting people know that the errors that are noted in the review I first posted are not a one time occurrence. In any event where the Corvette Z06 is "given" to you by the game, it will not work. No matter what. The Viper as well. Just errors that should not have been in a game that expensive.
Plus I want the little 5 second rewind in Forza 3

PS- customization of cars is pretty pitiful as well. I may be expecting too much, but there were not many options to make the car look like you want it. And the 370Z with Works conversion looks........ ew.

i bought it for the full price, but got it price matched at best buy because it went on sale the next week, down $20. I try not to be to picky about it, and just play it for what it is and have fun with it.

Well for PS3 owners out there, I guess you can say NFS:S is an acceptable substitution for GT5 until it comes out. :\
