Wives?
Am I the only one who looks at parts and tries to determine how to justify the need or cost to their wife?
Normally the conversation goes like this: "Hey I found this super rare JDM part that would look awesome on my z." "Your car has less than 600 miles, what does it do?" "Look pretty." "Doesn't it already look pretty for the 40K you paid for it?" That's about when I decide its a battle not worth the causalities. |

This is what I love about the Z being her car; an add on that looks pretty, "sure get it"!

I have been married almost 20 years and never felt the need to ask for permission or justify any car part.

My wife understands the concept of "boys and their toys." Buy anything I want, long as we don't need anything else at the time, and I have the money for it. Trying to figure out now. How to explain to her I need a '16 ACR Viper in the garage.

Did you mean "casualty"?
At any rate. My wife is quite different than yours. When I found something for the Z and it's of lower value (around $500 or under), I go ahead and get it. If it's more, I'll mention it to her and mull it over for a few days. Besides, the Z is my wife's daily driver/winter beater and she is into cars; she is not immersed in and borderline obsessed with cars like me but she is an average car enthusiast. The mentioning part is not about justification, I'm fully capable of doing that, but it's part of being married. Also, very rarely I go for cosmetics alone and my wife knows and understands that the modifications will make her car corner harder (with much less understeer!), stop shorter, react quicker, and, lastly, look better; plus she actually knows how to utilize those aspects. Wheels are the largest cosmetic-related modification for me and they better be larger and wider along with improved looks, I can't stand OEM sizes. Most of my mods are related to suspension. Anti-sway bars are usually the first volley so those stickier and wider tires can be utilized better around corners. Last edited by POS VETT; 09-12-2015 at 08:09 AM. |

Not to rub it in but on my 350z she texted me a picture of the Work wheels I had for it and actually said "bronze Works would like pretty on the car you should buy them!" That was a good day lol. |
