Which one did you get?

I had a Honeywell but I broke it. But I loved the damn thing. Now I am looking into the nest since I have a drop cam.

i got a lux brand one. it was like $60 shipped, used prime points so it was free to me. :D i saw that nest was having some issues on their firmware and i was too lazy to check wat that was all about. :icon17: but our hvac is a simple one stage so im sure it would've worked fine.

i had a honeywell programmable one too, it was short cycling like a mofo.

kenchan 11-30-2015 04:35 PM

only issue i have with this new thermostat is that it is a yay bit smaller than the honeywell so i have 2 holes and area around the new thermostat missing paint on the wall :ugh:

:rofl2: will make a CF bezel for it and it'll be good. ;) will just put some kind of cover using craft paper or something.

Yha since I have oil baseboard I had to wire in a 24vdc power supply to power the wifi. But I dropped it on the floor when I was moving something around.

We've had a Nest for a couple of years now. The thing works great. AC/heat comes on way less frequently than the old thermostat, and the bonus of being able to adjust the temp while laying in bed is awesome

ouch.. :( yah, the lux brand one can support the 24vdc. im not familiar with home hvac systems though so kinda went for the 'easy to install' 'easy to setup' kinda amazon reviewed model. :icon17: and there was a reviewer with a very similar problem i was having that this new thermostat fixed so that sealed the deal for me. :D

Why am i still at work? Why do things want to break as I'm ready to leave? grrr.... taco Hell tonight. No more leftovers.

How hard is it to install a nest? I know jack about thermostats.

As long as you don't have any weird HVAC wiring, it's a piece of cake. I think I connected three existing low voltage lines to it. Took maybe 60 seconds

kenchan 11-30-2015 04:54 PM

my hvac uses 4 wires and as mr. jar mentioned, very easy to install.

my wires are color coded too.. yellow, green, white, red. i think they were. just hook it up to the Y, G, W, R terminals. can't get any easier.

kenchan 11-30-2015 04:54 PM

btw leon, did you hardwire your dashcam? :ugh2:

:iagree:

The wire colors actually matched the colors on the terminals on the Nest
