Changed out the PS fluid in the DD. It was dark brown. Honda also uses their own fluid blend which is clear (and supposedly thicker viscosity) vs ATF like most manufacturers.

I've not changed the PS fluids in my hondas so dont know for certain, but surprised to hear they use clear fluid.

i thought all my hondas had some color to the fluid since new.

I replaced my power steering fluid with Redline D6 ATF around 20K miles. Probably due for another; it's been 50K miles since.

I just did this on Ms. Pint's 350Z the other weekend. It was over 100K miles, but I think the PS had been done before because the fluid didn't look bad. I did the ranger method 4 times and in between each one, I did the FSM procedure of three full lock turns in each direction with a five second hold (don't ever hold more than 10 sec at full lock!).

Idk what half of that even meant hahaha. All fluids other than oil I will be taking to a shop come 30k miles.

 sounds good. i dont think nissan even lists the PS fluid as a maintenance item on the G35C/350Z's, but I did my G's at year 10 and it was still ruby red. :D

the clutch fluid however was another story... :ugh: decided to ranger it every 2-3yrs after dat.

Me too. I ordered a bunch to flush it out and when I poured the first bottle I was shocked to see it was yellow/clear. Normal PS fluid is dark so I didn't think mine was bad. Whoops!

But most cars today have electric PS, so no fluid anyways.

kenchan 11-13-2015 11:55 AM

b15- yah, i'd be pretty surprised too.

u know, they should make electronic clutches to rid csc problems..
oh wait, they already do, but took the clutch pedal with it.
