So my boss is handling gave me a ticket to handle for a sales person. The dipshyt sales person has a graphically huge excel sheet that takes forever to load on a laptop. My boss is really good with software, but only 101 knowledgable in terms of hardware. This is what he sent her.

The XPS 13 Ultra books were chosen for the sales staff because they offered mobility and the latest and greatest technology for a laptop. They have a SSD Solid State Drive for quick response, have a Lithium Ion battery are thin and weighs 2.8 pounds. The graphical card is built into the motherboard unlike desktop computers that may have a separate graphics card. If it did include a separate graphics card it would weigh much more, be much larger in size and battery life would be significantly decreased. With the amount of traveling the sales staff does a larger, heavier, laptop would not work very well. You could purchase an external Graphics card for a laptop like gamers do but that is not really a solution.

Even with our desktop computers we have here the file you are trying to open takes much longer than a normal excel spreadsheet. More RAM and a better processor would not address the issue. An expensive gaming add on Graphics card would address the issue. This file although not that large includes a lot of calculations, Pivot tables and graphics.

Those old thinkpads are tanks. My dad still has one floating around that outperforms some newer laptops still. No bloatware and hard specs.

GL with the install. i cant remember but does the Z use the mini fuse or the low profile micro fuse? not that it matters on the add-a-circuit as the pitch is the same.

Slight issue I am seeing. The hardwire kit had a small square box about 5 feet down the cord. Not sure where I am to hide this piece. No way am I removing the A-pillar since it houses the side curtain airbag. Hmmmmmm

kenchan 11-17-2015 04:58 PM

can you extend the USB cable portion or no? if yes, i would double stick tape it just above the fuse box.

No. Not without soldering I think which I don't know how to do or use. I'll upload a photo in a minute of the square thingie.

Screw it. I'm just going to go fight with it and see what happens. I'll be back in an hour with a progress update.

eastwest2300 11-17-2015 06:08 PM

dude.

Leingod 11-17-2015 06:12 PM

**** it. I'm done. Everything is being shipped back. I couldn't get the add-a-fuse to ******* crimp the damn red wire on the hardware kit. Finally said screw it and e-taped it to the best of my ability. Fought to unscrew a screw attached to the fuse box to clip the black wire to it. And then the real kicker. The fuse kit I ordered only had large fuses in it. So I pull the spare 10A fuse from the engine bay fuse box and the ******* thing is to tiny!! WHAT'S THE ******* POINT?!!?!?!?! It's a hardwire kit. Not freaking rocket science.

yah, sorry. i got called into a conf-call after my last post.

can you place the module above the ceiling liner? id probably NOT place it on the glass as it would get too hot.

or get an extension like this.. not sure if 3ft is long enough though..

Nope. I'm done. The thing royale pissed me off. The fuse thing sent me over the edge.

u're done as in finished installing or u gave up?

kenchan 11-17-2015 06:22 PM

saw ur post above. come on now, it's too early for your to give up.. :ugh:

yah, when i saw the box of fuses dat triggered my previous question about the mini fuse.
add-a-circuit uses the mini fuse size, but can still fit into the micro low profile fuse slot in the car.

Leingod 11-17-2015 06:25 PM

I'll upload another pix later. Cooling down with a beer and leftover homemade tacos.
