I ended up making an appointment for 10/31. So I might drive the car once or twice after that (although it will get down to the low 30's overnight, we don't usually get snow or have any road salt put down until 1st week of December) and then I'll put the battery tender on it and shut the door and try not to think about it for 5 months.

My DD has summer tires on it too, and they're getting pretty "entertaining" with these 45-degree mornings.

I only change mine in the fall before storage. Everyone has different opinions but I don't like used oil sitting for months. I only have about 3k on mine as well but I'd rather flush it out prior to storage to get rid of any contaminants. In the spring in the first start, I take it for a nice long drive and get the oil nice and hot. Any condensation that may have accumulated while it was sitting will evaporate. In my opinion, it's only needed to change before or after storage. No sense in doing both considering its only being stored 5 or so months, not years.

No. But it'll be hit or miss if it starts in the spring on its own. Float chargers (doesn't have to be battery tender brand) are cheap and worth it. I use one every winter and my OEM battery is still going strong

What are they charging for specifically??

That's what have always done (in the spring) except I've also changed it in the fall. In spring, when the 6 month interval is up again, I get it changed again. So, Nov 1 and May 1, more or less.

It's probably a waste of money but whatever. :icon17:

Not absolutely, but your battery will last a lot longer and the car will actually start without charging it in the spring.

Also you don't want to have the battery so dead that the "drop the windows 1/4 inch" thing doesn't happen. :ugh:

You don't need those, you don't need to move the car forward and back, and you don't need Sta-bil. I leave my tires at the normal pressure (which is 34 psi in my case) when I store the car every year, I've never had a problem with flat spots. As long as the tires aren't low on air you won't have a problem.

A lot of the "wisdom" on this subject is more applicable to 60's cars with 60's gas tanks and bias-ply tires.

I ordered a tender just to be safe. Cheap $25 one. Flatstoppers were insane. I'll take my chances with flat tires. For the $10, I'll get stabil. Can't hurt. The storage place is heated and on tile. So I'm not to worried.

Seriously, some radial tires will flat-spot every time you park the car for 8 hours. Of course they disappear when you drive the car for 15 minutes then.

For storage, if you left 15 psi in the tires for 6 months, you might get flat spots.

But you could get the car out, air them up to 40 psi, drive it around the block two or three times, and deflate them back to normal and they'd be fine.

Slight wrinkle in my birthday surprise plan for my wife...

Amazon sent the 4 items in 4 separate packages... Two of the items came yesterday. The "seller" is shown on the label as something like "Just4Fun" on one package, and the other is something like "TShirts&More" or whatever. :shakes head:

Hopefully she just looked at the part of the label that showed I was the recipient or just didn't think much of it. If she figured it out, she's definitely got her poker face on. :icon17:

Her other two gifts arrive tonight (including the shirt she is pissed she lost) but they will show "AmazonLLC" so I should be OK if she hasn't figured it out yet... :ugh2:

Boo, F1 private event got shelved until next year since our local ice rinks suck at wanting to host an event with awesome coverage.

You half left around the pine and we can cap blue near the dog

Double down on the tranqs and we can drop the blondes at the corner

Dude I'll be able to drive my car for at least 2, if not 6 more weeks.

Maybe not with the windows down, but I'll be able to drive it. :icon17:

Probably won't after the 31st, though... And I might not until then anyway. But I could! :icon17:

i have a feeling my ankle will cure in a couple of weeks and could regret getting an AT car while my plan was to keep my dd MT and future hobby car AT..

kenchan 10-16-2015 05:16 PM

might be better to get the accord CVT and play it by ear..it's 1/2 the price of the IS... give it to my older kid when he's ready to drive.
