Surely I am better at communicating my concerns than that. Right? Maybe. Omg. Better check. How can i state it better? And on And on. And on....fakkkk. Lol

Heading up to Door County for a weekend getaway/anniversary trip with the wife tomorrow. Have tons of free rental days so decided to rent a car instead of putting miles on one of mine. Let's just say the 2016 Maxima I got will be well broken in by the time I return it Tuesday :D

This is the third time I've driven the 8th gen maxima now and it's huge. Can't get used to it

Happy Friday!

madwi 10-16-2015 06:40 AM

Morning everyone. :hello: Let the weekend festivities begin.
I think I am going to try and get a few decent pictures of the Z and the fall colors. Should be prime time for colors this weekend.
Suppose to drop off into the 30's Saturday night :( Almost time for the Z to sleep and dream of twisty country roads.

kenchan 10-16-2015 06:41 AM

Goodam, everyone! :hello:

Is it 5pm yet..? :ugh:

Similar here... it's 40 degrees right now, only getting up to 64 today, then down to 31 over night, and only 55 on Saturday. :ugh2:

But Monday it will be back up to 75.

I still haven't decided if I should waste my money on changing my oil or not.

The car has 2000 miles, and is going to sit for the next 5 - 6 months, so basically I'd be putting new oil in, storing the car, then getting it out, and changing the oil again anyway. That's what I used to do.

But now all these cars coming out say to change the oil every 5,000 - 10,000 miles (I know, too long for the Z) but they ALSO say if you haven't hit the mileage in ONE YEAR, change the oil.

Hell my old S2000 said that, back in 2007 - if the oil change interval hadn't been hit due to non use, change it in a year.

I'm thinking, just wait and do it in the spring? It's not like I drive the car for 5 minutes at a time; every time I get it out, I get the oil up to 220+ and it's running for an hour or more. :driving:

I am waiting for next spring for my oil change. I only put a couple thousand miles on her this year also. I can't imagine it hurting anything.

That's what I plan to do. I'm not changing the oil every season it gets pulled out. It's a new age car and synthetic oil. 3k miles was great back in the 60's. If a new car can't handle 3-5k oil changes or sitting for 6 months. It just means I'll never be buying that type again.

When i pull mine out in the spring, i'll drive 3k miles before I change it. And then a full fluid swap at 30k miles.

Leingod 10-16-2015 07:10 AM

Turned TC off on the way to work and was sideways at every corner I could find. She goes into storage tomorrow afternoon.....

Weather is getting bad here so I shortened storage time a week...

I think you're probably right, but I worry too much... $70 worth of oil isn't worth worrying over, to me... So I decided to stick with my "overkill" method of changing in the fall, then changing again in the spring. :icon17:

I ended up making an appointment for 10/31. So I might drive the car once or twice after that (although it will get down to the low 30's overnight, we don't usually get snow or have any road salt put down until 1st week of December) and then I'll put the battery tender on it and shut the door and try not to think about it for 5 months.

My DD has summer tires on it too, and they're getting pretty "entertaining" with these 45-degree mornings.

DO we absolutely need battery tenders?
