Forgot to mention the idiots on the road on the way back from the coast this weekend. Had one idiot going 65 mph (in a 75 mph zone) in the left hand lane on her phone refusing to pass an 18 wheeler that was in the right lane. After 20 minutes, I get by her and leave her in my dust. About 10 minutes later, I encountered a little bit of traffic as a line of cars merged onto the highway. We've slowed down at least 20 mph under the speed limit now in the left lane and even slower in the right lane. Well, just moments later this same dumb bitch comes flying over the hill still doing 65 mph in the right hand lane cutting off three merging cars. Next thing I know, we're slamming on our brakes HARD and I see her flying off the road into the grass median sideways like fuckin Chris Forsberg. I truly wish she had flipped her car and totaled it :shakes head:

On a positive note, we came back on 130 (toll road with 85 mph speed limit), and I found out the Accord can set cruise control higher than the Z :icon17: Not that 95 mph is really a good idea for cruise control :ugh:

datz good driving. good drivers are always anticipating for something to happen, and this is why we dont get into accidents.

Anticipation is key. My dad was teaching that to me when I was 12 years old just riding along with him in the car. To this day I routinely anticipate people trying to change lanes or make a sudden stupid maneuver several moments before they attempt it. My wife used to never believe me, so I started calling them out loud in front of her. She believes me now lol

I've been in three accidents in my 18 years of driving (and it's been 10 years since the last one). Two were witnessed by police officers confirming it was not my fault, and the third was due to a freak blown tire that someone had while entering the highway. My wife hates my occasional aggressive driving style, but she at least acknowledges that I must be doing something right :driving:

Same here. You're not alone. I'm teaching the GF how to ease onto her brakes instead of slamming them last second at every stop she has to come to. I could feel her poor Versa trying to keep straight at some lights.

I will say that i play offensively when driving around dumbarses though. I won't stay behind them and give them space. I'd rather just use the horsepower I have and pass them to continue on my way. This isn't to say I cut people off or anything. If the left lane is open, I'll downshift a gear or 2. launch the car for a split second and be done with the morons behind me.

Single accident in my life....old guy backed out of his parking spot without looking behind him while I was waiting in line to exit the lot. My poor Cobalts only fender bender....

LOL my wife just gets defensive when I try to talk to her about brakes now. But she just won't fuckin listen - I have tried and now have no more patience. She tore up our old Accord brakes such that I had to replace rotors and pads (~30K miles). Then she tore up the Z brakes such that I had to replace rotors and pads (~20K miles). Then she tore up the Acura brakes such that I would be replacing pads and rotors if it weren't a lease that we are returning next month (~40K miles). Granted all of those rotors could have been turned, but I chose to go the upgrade path on the Accord and Z since they were going to be my new DD.

Thankfully, rotors and pads are an easy job. If she jacks up the brakes on her new Accord, I will just replace them when she can't take it any more. Or maybe I'll just make her continue to drive on them to teach her a lesson. Nah, that wouldn't be very nice to the car :icon17:

kenchan 08-18-2015 10:40 AM

kenchan 08-18-2015 10:42 AM

u guys familiar with roof racks at all?

if so, how do you tie down long cardboard boxes and wood planks? was looking at yakima or something like that and maybe straps. i want to get a bunch of planks to mod my basement rc track. :D plus i kinda like the idea of having extra cargo space over the roof of my dd.
