Thank you for the compliment though. Def helps for an ego boost and wanting to get right back at it.

Just takes time to learn, you will get there. Remember those pics are on black paint too.

You did just fine and there is nothing wrong with setting high standards. I wish more people did.

Is that for lunch, or is that a snack?

Picking up the wife's new car in about an hour... Then it's off to the store to pick up stuff for homemade pizza tomorrow.

Well, we're not making the cheese, or the dough this time, it's been a long week.

I haven't bought a car with my wife in over a decade.

Last time we did this, she got tired of looking the first day and just bought the 3rd car she drove, from CarMax, and paid too much, got a shitty interest rate, etc. I really couldn't say anything, because it was her money.

This time I told her, if she wants me to help her I will pretend that I'm in charge (as would usually be the case) and work everything on the deal.

The problem is, in the finance office is where things get stupid usually, and she doesn't know what a scam the rustproofing and extended warranties and all that can be, so I basically just told her not to seem interested in anything and don't ask any questions, and assume I know what the hell I'm doing. :icon17:

Davey 07-31-2015 04:16 PM

Kind of surprised shitty isn't in the swear filter.

That's kind of a shitty swear filter, isn't it? :ugh:

Final verdict. This is about 45 minutes on the drivers side door panel. Wash, clay, polish, wax. Sorry for the hazy quality, phone camera sucks.

What you sound like to a sysadmin.
( Click to show/hide )
We all know that what we say is only a part of what we actually communicate.

Like a good doctor, a trained Sysadmin starts an assessment and diagnosis of your problem before you even reach their desk (and then, in some cases, come round the desk, lean over, read everything on the monitor and then touch it for no reason – you know who you are).

Whatever you say, the chances are they've heard it before, believed it, been burned, and vowed never to believe it again.

So whatever you think you said, think again: they're onto you!

Today, in the spirit of better understanding the common language that divides us, we're celebrating Sysadmin Day with a simple guide to understanding what Sysadmins actually hear when we speak.

“You don't look very busy”

I'm going to make whatever you're concentrating on much harder by talking to you while you do it.

“This will only take you a minute.”

I secretly think your job is really easy.

“I'm sure this won't take long.”

Clear your schedule.

“I tried to fix it myself.”

I have made it much, much worse.

“I already tried that ten times.”

I actually recognised one of the words you said when you started speaking and after that I stopped listening.

“The computer deleted my file.”

I deleted my file.

“This wouldn't have happened if we used Macs.”

Macs. Because shiny!

“You're pretty good with computers, right?”

The next thing I say will be can you fix my personal laptop / tablet / phone / lawnmower / cat, in your own time, for free?

“Is it possible to delete an email after you've sent it?”

Get some popcorn, this is going to be good...

“I think the firewall is blocking me.”

I don't know what a firewall does but I like the word so I just threw it in there as a sort of garnish. You can probably rule out the firewall.

“Is there something wrong with Exchange?”

I have done something stupid to my email.

“Why does this always happen?”

This is the second time this has happened to me! I forgot to tell you the other time. If this is my fault, I'll forget this one too.

“Ever since you...”

I'm pretty sure you broke my computer's 风水 or something when you reset my password.

“It worked yesterday.”

It worked right up to the point I changed it.

“It would be easier if you just made me an admin.”

I've got big plans for this laptop. You'll have to burn it to the ground when I'm done with it.

There is one word that always cuts through the hardened carapace of experience, though – Thanks! – and it's the only one we need today, because today is Sysadmin Day!

All finished. I'm slightly happier now. Slowly getting closer to calling myself "good" at detailing. I came home to her and she was covered in dust/pollen from the areas I waxed yesterday. So at least I know it's being done correctly.

Why do you hate it? I thought they were zippy? Not like the Z but it has to be better than my Victor (4cyl). Lol

Yea, they're quick after you rev past 6k. powerband tops out at 8k tho. And the added weight throughout the years makes is laughable. The Z takes bumps better and the turning radius on the Civic is like trying to navigate a dump truck to parallel park. Gas mileage is decent at least.

Just finished overcooking burgers on the grill :wtf2: They actually looked very good on the outside, and I thought about photos. But I did not want to document the poor grilling performance :shakes head:

But I have an excuse as the wife distracted me literally 15 seconds after I set them down on the hot grill :icon17: She asked me to set up the computer downstairs for streaming a live music feed she wanted to watch. Of course, the bridge that hasn't been touched in 5 years decided it didn't want to work all of a sudden and I had no internet. So I had to pull out the iPad and HDMI adapter at the last minute.
