Haha, that's alright. What am I missing though? Or is it tools that I need like a DA polisher?? I wasn't expecting top quality results, but it still looks and feels like a simple wash/wax with little difference. It's smoother. that's it.

Sorta mad and sad about the time I've put in already for the results garnished.

Nothing is really missing, I was just hoping to unload all my extra crap to you :roflpuke2:
Paint PREP is the way to a great shine. Waxing is just the last step for protecting. Good paint prep is a pain in the *** to do by hand. With that said, Four Star Ultimate Paint Sealant will be your best friend with grey paint :)

Any game you want on Steam? haha. I feel bad just taking stuff. Or at least figure out shipping so I can PP you some money.

I order that paint protection bottle. It'll arrive next week. I plan to strip the current wax off and start from scratch again. I may order one of those cheap $40 DA polishers for now.

Dont worry about it. Save your money for a good DA polisher, it really is one tool you dont want to skimp on.

I am a big fan of the Porter cable, the flex and rupes get good reviews too.

As it happens, I got news shortly after his service that my own grandmother, Marjorie Rickard passed away around noon that same day. We are attending her Celebration of Life service and inurnment a week from tomorrow. She was living in an Alzheimer's facility confined to a wheelchair with very minimal physical and mental capacity for the past few years, so we know she is in a better place now.

My condolences and a prayer for your family's losses, JAR.

The porter is over $100 cheaper on Amazon with the same stellar reviews. I'm put it in my wish list for next month. Been saving my Amazon points like crazy from my credit card.

 It really does produce a good reflective look, which is sometimes hard to get on lighter colored vehicles. I think you will really like it.

PM sent. I've only ever owned lighter cars. But even Mr. Njobes looked phenomenal from his pics he posted recently. Worked on the damn Z for 6 hrs yesterday and am only half way done.

FWIW, I moved beyond stuff you can buy locally in the auto parts stores.

If it's shine you are looking for, try a sealant type wax for longevity, then top that with a glaze, and then top that with a show wax. I did that and the car looks better than new, even after 70K miles.

I ended up using Meguiars polisher for "depth" and was recommended to try the Jet Black liquid Wax since it was a full synthetic. I'll have to look into true glazes. Never used them before. The polisher said it was suppose to glaze well. But first, I'm getting that porter DA polisher. Enough of this "by hand" stuff.

Oh, and that tire liquid shine gel is rather nice. A little to slick in places because I got over zealous. But it doesn't sling at all and is holding its shine perfectly.

I need an interior cleaner recommendation. I've always used the Meguiar's Ultimate Protectant with the Z and put a coat on in the 6. I don't like how I have to gob it on just to see results, nor the stickiness of it from said gobbing.

Pintsize725 07-31-2015 09:27 AM

And now, I'm ready for lunch even though I had a huge breakfast.

Ken to the rescue... again.

But seriously, Griots is good. i've used it before.

kenchan 07-31-2015 09:29 AM

for interiors though, i use slightly speedshine damp mf detailing towel. like 2 trigger pull mists into the towel and use that to dust off my interior and lenses. works great. i dont use it on the glass though, ofcourse. for glass i use griot's window cleaner and glass mf towels.

then maybe once a season i wipe down the plastics and seals with nero (50/50 water mix)
