remote pack tactical flashlight?

My dad wanted a long throw flashlight for shooting rabbits in his backyard are night. I didn't want to spend uber $$ nor have a flashlight that only last 1 hr run time. I ended up buying a Defiant 3d tactical 600 lumen flashlight. The light is super bright but there is a flaw in using it to hunt at night. He has to put the light down to aim the rifle! The light is way too big and heavy to mount to the .22 rifle.

I was thinking

1-Somehow convert the flashlight so I can mount the flashlight head to the gun and have remote battery pack so it can strap to his waist or something.

2-buy a smaller dedicated long throw light to mount to the rifle (suggestions? where can I find the mount?)

You can find all sorts of light mounts at most gun stores. Barrel-clamp, Picatinny.

If you want to go the cheap route, I'd get a clamp-on mount and a handful of the $2.99 pocket flashlights you see at the checkout counter. The lights sold for firearm use tend to be expensive but are usually pretty rugged and often come with a remote switch that can be handy.
