Fighting my Speeding Ticket

Truth be told since i was 16 i have had about 10 speeding tickets. All of which i have either done traffic school or showed up to court and the cop never showed, BOOM.

But this is the first time I am doing trial by declaration. I am using Ticket Snipers to build a defense. I just got their defense and it was AMAZING. No wonder people get away with murder. I read a 7 page document as to why i should be innocent.

Anyway, my question is, has anyone ever used one of these "Get out of a speeding ticket company" before?

Success? Failure?

Jordo! 05-21-2015 06:57 PM

I smell a scam, but who knows? No harm in trying.

I've gotten traffic attorneys to show up and speak on my behalf -- 50/50 on success.

Good luck!

Were you on surface streets? Was it for CVC22350? If it was, easy to beat.

EZT 05-21-2015 07:14 PM

How about man up to speeding, and pay your dues.

Because speeding tickets are no longer about driver safety and more about revenue generation for municipalities. It's literally a legal form of extortion these days.

Don't pay for a defense, you're in CA. Use this:

Just pay it. Nobody beats the judicial system.

Umm.... I have. Multiple times. You just need to do it. Laziness from the general pop is what allows them to do this. If everyone fought their tickets, cities would lose money on every ticket they write. It would de-incentivise them from writing further tickets based on revenue alone.

dP3NGU1N 05-21-2015 07:36 PM

If anyone is interested in educating themselves, here's some reading material on how the speed limit is a scam and that engineering surveys often show that the final set speed limits are often ridiculously conservative.

Nice!! Anyone have one for Florida?

Davey 05-21-2015 08:37 PM

I got a speeding ticket in the 80's. I paid it.

Those were crazy times, though.

While I do agree with your statement, OP grossly exceeded his number of fair warnings it seems.

While I do agree with your statement, it kinda depends on how old OP is - if he's a Senior Citizen, that's only one every five years. :stirthepot: :)

But, yeah, sounds like OP has an uncontrollable lead foot.

Jordo! 05-22-2015 05:49 AM

Hmm. I'd say just from the available empirical data at the links, its a mixed bag of findings. The 24 hr experimental change, for example, is hard to interpret because there are likely well established norms for driving the roads selected for the study that held greater sway than any unexpected changes in postings.

I do agree that much of enforcement is aimed at revenue generation and that frequently speed limits are set somewhat arbitrarily.

I've often thought there should be floating limits that vary according to time of day, traffic flow etc, all of which can be easily tracked now. If a road has five cars on it, bump up the limit 10 - 15 mph.

We actually already do this for "school zones" during school hrs, so why not for all major thoroughfares?

Davey 05-22-2015 06:00 AM

I do agree speed limits are too low on a lot of roads. Our loop here is 55 mph... it's 5 lanes wide in places and deserted as a ghost town at 8 PM on a weekday usually. Typical speed is 70 MPH when there is moderate traffic.

Last weekend coming back from TN through KY (saw a bunch of Z's cruising together) it seems the typical speed was 85 in a 70 mph zone.

IMO, it's not so much the speed that's a problem as it is the consistency. You can have a bunch of people going 80 mph on a straight road with 5 lanes, but throw a few Grandmas going 54 mph and you get a lot of crazy swerving and lane-changing and that's where you get much higher potential for accidents.

last year I was doing 93 in a 55 and the cop stopped me to talk about my car.

couple weeks ago 58 in a 35. got a warning and had a car discussion for 20 minutes.

I think you're doing it wrong lol :bowrofl:

How does that happen!!!??? I witnessed my wife get out of a speeding ticket in her car...she cried and gave this heartfelt story about how we are racing to tell her parents we are engaged, which was like 2 years prior i proposed lol.

Chuck33079 05-22-2015 01:07 PM

I rarely get tickets, and it's not for lack of trying. :rofl2:

When you get pulled over, pull over quickly. Engine off. Windows down. Keys on dash, hands on wheel. I don't reach for ANYTHING until he's at my window and I explain what I'm reaching for and then I do it SLOWLY. 9 out of 10 times, I get a warning.

For that 10th time, I get a lawyer. Because I have a good traffic attorney, my insurance company has no record of any ticket more recent than 1999.

It's amazing how far you get talking to them respectfully like normal people and going out of their way to make them feel more comfortable goes.

oh yea. my father is friends with many cops through his job so I grew up around them and knowing the best ways to approach situations with them.

I will say I had not one but two times a while back that was iffy though because I was being funny lol some cops don't have great senses of humor.

but both ended up being just fine. I go with less jokes until I feel out if they are the uptight cop or the normal ones :tiphat:

Ding Ding Ding Ding! We have a winner!

I've been completely in the wrong going nearly 20 mph over and gotten only a warning after a very pleasant conversation with the officer. Another time, the guy gave me a warning after I argued very politely that while I did, in fact, redline 1st and 2nd gear, I did not exceed the speed limit :o :driving:

haha well done.

yea my big stops in the Z I was fortunate they were car guys. the 93 in 55 the guy saw the chalk numbers on the window and was asking about what my ET and trap was. I knew at this point I was golden. end of the conversation he looked at his watch and said "pens game is almost on. get home quick so you don't miss any" :driving:

Bshields22 05-22-2015 01:39 PM

I think my best story was I was going 94 in a 65 on my way to Vegas. I guess a plane clocked me. When that happens they radio down to a patrol car like 10 miles down the road to wait for you. Office comes up to my passenger window and my smart *** friend was with me, Cops asks, "you know why i pulled you over?" smart *** friend decides to quote Liar Liar and says, "depends how long you were following us" lol. Cop thought it was funny then began explain how i got clocked.

Showed up to court with only a hope and a prayer as my defense. In this situation the officer in the plane AND the Hwy Patrol officer need to be there together. Only the plane cop was....case dismissed... BOOM!

Good times... lol :happydance::happydance:

there's many places around me that patrol speed from aircraft. most of VA highways I see the signs even certain spots in WV and PA I've seen the signs as well. I don't believe them soemtimes though lol

mishuko 05-22-2015 02:51 PM

i was doing 92 in a 60 (kmh) and got nabbed...

ticket was 300. paid for one of those services and ended up having my ticket dropped so in total paid just shy of 400 for both the fight and reduced ticket.

if the big ticket went through my insurance would be 1000 more than it was at the time. to me it was worth every penny to fight it.

i would have showed up in court myself to fight it but i wasn't able to take time off work. literally gave them the ticket, they filed on my behalf, i got the notice of court appearance, forwarded to them and waited for them to deal with it.

they have to post 'aircraft patrolled' to nab you here. if they nab you in the plane and it's not posted atleast once then you're probably going to walk.

then again if you see some horizontal stripes on the road spaced out evenly... :eekdance:

local popo here runs vascar with the lines on the road. only state police/highway cop[s run radar. so on the highway I run with a radar detector lol

vascar can be usually beat in court and they knock it down to 5mph over. no points for you but they still get their bit of fine/court money.

jmayz 05-22-2015 02:58 PM

In NM if it's on a highway it doesn't count against your insurance. You pay about 100 bucks and move on. I call it my speeding tax. I pay extra to drive faster than everybody else! :D

I wish we had that here. I would not care at all lol

I still would love if there was a driving test to determine one's abilities then that determines speed limits but that will never work since most drivers are just awful lol

janglez 05-22-2015 03:03 PM

ummm, i kinda feel like i'm talking to my son here but if you don't want a speeding ticket then don't speed... no one has the right to break the law... you don't have to agree with it but that doesn't give you the right to ignore it... not trying to sound like a prude here but without laws our society would be more of a mess than it already is

I will agree with you. but with speed limits I do not. I follow them somewhat locally but highway nah. in PA the best we got is 60/65mph. i'm sorry that's not acceptable on a major highway.

speed limits haven't changed in about 30 years or so and cars/roads have.

only place that's advancing with the times is Texas and that 85mph highway or whatever they opened.

why is it that the USA is still thinking it's 1950 when places like Germany have the unrestricted autobahn? well maybe it's due to most us cars are typically garbage compared to their german rivals lol

I'm somewhat in agreement with you. If I'm speeding, I understand that I may get the occasional ticket. I'm not talking about doubling up the speed limit, but 10-15 over on a freeway with light traffic is acceptable to me. But, if I get a ticket, it's my own dumbass fault. I'll still fight it, but I'm under no illusion that the citation was in any way unjust or undeserved.

jmayz 05-22-2015 03:12 PM

It's 70 out here which isn't bad. I've been on those texas highways! God bless those guys over there!

Agreed! These fuc|<ers are a pain the a$$. My wife was doing 52 on a 45 (NON construction) and this pig pulled my wife over and gave her a $600 ticket. Talking about money generation for these bastards....
