Default Would Nissan kill the 370Z?

The last time Nissan had massive losses like this, the Z was yanked.

Say it ain't so, Nissan.

With what iceman said, Nissan projected 30k Z and then backed off to 10k, they have now sold just over 10k 370z this year so they seem to know what they are doing. If anything were to go I would probably put money on the GT-R first and then the Z, and it might not be so much as the cars stopping production but they may limit it to Japan only to cut importing them down.

awesome, cut-em off....gimme some added value

but I agree, GTR will go away first for sure. Until that happens, I don't see the Z in any trouble.

OEM parts will always survive (at a higher price though), but the aftermarket for the car will be dead or even more expensive.

They should get smart and lower their prices a bit; that way, they would make less profit on each unit, but would sell a larger volume of vehicles. One of the pitfalls of capitalism, I guess.
It's all about lucre!

They stopped production of my Silvia S15 in 2002 and I had no problems getting parts for it. It also increased the resale value

yea, most of the cost of the car has already been spent. There might not be a next gen, but no reason to cut it now.

When the new 35mpg Cafe comes into play, thats a whole other story though. Even GM is saying the Vette may go hybrid.

^I agree with this. I think performance cars and sports cars as we know them are currently in their respective twilight and at the climax/pinnacle of affordable performance. Some may say I am a doomsdayer, but the "Green" movement and the overzealous push towards tremendously more efficient vehicles is going to make our sports cars into extinct species much like the gas crisis of the early 1970's was the death knell of the American musclecar. The inevitable rise in gas prices as supply disappears and demand stays at its current level or increases will only exacerbate the demise.

Sure technology may find a way, but you will likely soon pay a premium for performance.
