I just read in Autoweek that they are saying the next corvette may be a combination of hybrid/lighter/cylinder deactivation.

The Titan and Armada are beautiful trucks, but man did they put the screws to Nissan. Very bad timing. As for 35mpg CAFE, Nissan just announced four electric vehicles. That should keep the corporate CAFE up and hopefully keep the Z in the lineup..........

One can only hope so, Dad. Of course if they can't afford to fill up the tank at $4 or $5 a gallon, they will all be driving a hybrid.

The thought of cylinder deactivation does not thrill me!

This sounds like when the 350 came out

BTW, it's always been my understanding that until the C5 the Vette lost money.

Nissan was making a profit when the 350Z came out. Ford cut off the Edsel after 4 years, but Ford was a cash cow then - and Nissan just lost $2 Billion. We still bow to the King.

mid to late 1950's there was an economic down turn

Just remember one thing. In the post war days Honda, Toyota, Nissan and the other Japaneses car were all subsidized by the Government for a very long time. If the truth be known they may very well still be.
