red light license covers
Here in Florida we are getting more red light cameras. I see many cars now a days with clear plastic over their back license plate. I have looked on Amazon and there was spray cans to plastic covers but all got bad reviews. Does anyone have a good product site or positive review from personal use. I don't plan on running lights but would appreciate the self assurance. THANKS

I think Mythbusters did a show on all those products and they didn't do anything to stop the cameras from getting the license plate. Maybe things have changed but I think it is a waste of money.

all it needs to do is reflect 1 digit like how you get the starburst camera shot.(clear nailpolish) someone needs to go on shark tank with invention. haha

Thanks for the response. When I am in traffic every other car has a clear cover over them. I guess they are fools to believe, also. There is definitely a flash at the intersection because I am sitting at the light watching people get zapped with flashes. This just irks me due to the city wanting to raise money. just pass out more tickets for bad signal lights and not using blinkers then. Now their thinking about right turns on red be illegal in florida. I see you are in the same state

And yes, I am located in Tampa. You? |

Purchase an escort passport max or whistler cr90. These have data bases and will notify you of upcoming red light cameras

Yes they do. Escort is better but very much more expensive. I own the whistler and it updates monthly. Whether its accurate or not I dont know.

I am in Jacksonville. we just started getting them. There is 1 red camera light up San jose the main artery to get to I-295 that cannot be avoided. This is more of concern for my mom. She was looking else where as she went thru a light in Green cove springs per camera. They had the combine car get together in that town last week. I am a cyclist and had an oil can thrown at me a few yrs back. Not a nice town. I read up on a site out of Chicago and it did say the spray was useless but polyurethane worked with 15 coats? my concern is getting hit from behind or being behind a slow person and not making it thru the light and hitting them. The internet said it was the politicians trying to make money and police have nothing to do with it. Thanks for the passport advice.

honestly, those "covers" and "sprays" are worthless and won't do anything for you. it tells you online how the money collected is divided up - portion of it goes to the company that manages the cameras, some goes to the city, etc. and by the way, it's the PD/SO/any other law enforcement agencies that review for potential violations, so im sure they get a portion of that as well. regarding your concern about driving behind a slow person, someone correct me if i'm wrong, but i'm under the impression that as long as you don't actually cross the line when it's red, then you're fine; if you cross when it's yellow, but not yet red, then you are good. i gotta post a pic that my buddy sent me. he ran a red light and knew he was gonna get a ticket so he ended up waving his middle finger while going thru the red light. when they sent him the bill, it shows in the picture of him driving with his middle finger out the window lol |
Tallahassee's the same deal. I have about a 5 mile commute to work and there are 2 red light cams out of the 8 total lights I go through.

I did a drive yesterday with my group in Austin and my detector picked up two red light cameras. It rings like a door bell and tells me how many feet remain until I approach it. Pretty cool.
