The only way to stop red light cameras ticketing you is to obey the law to the t. That... and have everyone write to your city/town representative. On Long Island, red light cams are everywhere. They tried installing speed cameras at schools, but people flat out said enough is enough. It's a money making scheme for strapped municipalities and the research has indicated it doesn't do much to prevent accidents. What people don't realize is that most of the fine ends up going to a private entity. It's nearly impossible to challenge these tickets. For example. My father got a ticket for running a red light...except it wasn't him driving...it wasn't even his car. They even gave a link to a video. You would think it would be easy to just call a number and have them review it. Nope. It took phone call after phone call to finally reach someone and he had to write a letter saying it wasn't his car. The license plate didn't match anything her had. It was just some kind of computer database error. I guess my point is, whatever photo/video the camera takes is still processed by some idiot making minimum wage....and even they can pull off a license plate number from a bad pic with the software they have. With new camera sensors that can capture clear images using high ISO speeds, these sprays and films don't do much to hide number plates. The only effective measures to counter these cameras are unfortunately illegal. I thought I saw a device out there with an optical trigger. Basically, it detects the flash and sets off an even brighter flash over the plate. Wouldn't really be as effective during the day, but's it's a plausible solution.
