is depression the main reason for suicide?
How can anybody tell if a fellow coworker / friend is depressed. So far in my company I have seen 4 suicides from people who laughed and looked so "normal" but apparently had serious issues in their personal lives that made them do what they did.
Personally if it's the time that you choose to end it all and end your suffering think about it, seek help and if all fails at least take the time to say good bye to those who love you. It tore my heart to see a little boy brother of this young guy who worked with me to see him cry out loud at his wake, all I could do was just cry with him and when giving my condolences all I saw was a blank stare from the family. |
To many reasons people commit suicide. All of them wrong of course. The devastation left behind is enormous. I have seen the same thing in my units. It's like a virus that spreads. All you can do is know your people. Ask questions and hope you get a good read early enough to get some help for someone who needs it.
I'm a vet, and always #1 priority was knowing your people but it still happens. Sorry you had to see that. Pride, Embarrassment, Loss of honor, Can't get ahead, Marriage, Bills, Drugs, etc. To many reasons other than depression. Can't catch them all. |
Never think you can read people about this type of thing. It's well hidden in most cases with little to no signs at all.
