Mommy's back in a Z :) A big thanks to this forum :)
I just had to pop in here and finally post..I've been lurking awhile...reading through this forum and finding all the answers to my questions.
I finally drove home in my 370Z today :) I've been a Z-girl for a long time... My parents handed down a 1974 240Z...then I graduated to a 1981 280ZX...in 1993 I bought a 300ZX...which I had to sell when the babies started coming in 1996.. Fast forward to 2009, Mommy is back in her Z. :driving: A big thank you to all the members of this forum, the information I found here was extremely helpful! Tammy 2009 370Z Touring/Sport/Nav 7AT (I know..but I'm 40..I'm old) :) Platinum Graphite |
Welcome aboard!

Congrats, welcome, and enjoy the Z (also, nothing wrong with the 7AT).

Thanks for the nice welcome!
I have been driving the Z today in the manual mode and having a ball playing with the shifting..I did test drive the 6speed manual and I really enjoyed it although, I never really got any "smooth" shifting down with that... My husband talked me into getting the automatic because (at my age..ahem...) he said I'd enjoy it for the first few months and then this California traffic would make me regret it. He's *probably* right but I felt more like a race car driver in the stick shift :) I definitely have pics of my 93 300ZX (Charcoal I believe was the color back ten, but its pretty much the same as this PG) somewhere around here, I will have to dig deep into my old high school memorabilia to find the 240Z (red) and the 280ZX (black) but I just might do that! Thanks again for the warm welcome. As you can probably guess, I won't be racing it...:rofl2: I'm a full-time stay at home mom with 3 kids who is going to nursing school full-time. I needed a smaller, easier and more economical car to drive--so how I somehow talked my husband into letting me get the Z-- I can't stop smiling. |
I am going to ask, any mods planned?
|
with a history of Z's...... for sure you'll want to mod that new Z too
|
Congrats and welcome! :hello:
|
I'm pretty sure the only thing we'll probably do would be some type of exhaust and then he is talking about new wheels...but quite honestly, I like the wheels that came on the thing. But other than that, no...I can't imagine I would ever use this car to its stock potential, let alone any type of mods. But I sure bet all the young college kids at school would think I was pretty cool if I did? :)
|
for sure it would be cool..... just wait til you get an exhaust and the mod bug might bite ya...lol
F.I makes the best exhaust for the G's and Z's..... so have a look at those... tell him i sent ya also, sale pricing is ending now.... so hop on the sales price if your ready and F.I, Tony is in SoCal too |
I will definitely write that down. I know nothing about exhausts..my job is just to drive it :)
I test drove the G37 s and the G37 convertible.... As nice as it was...and probably more age-appropriate... I didn't have the same feeling sitting in it as I did the Z-- I liked the G37...but I loved the Z. The Infiniti salespeople couldn't understand that... It all came down to the fact that plain and simple, I'm a "Z" lover :) |
at 1st, i drive a Pontiac... then came the G37.... felt like i was sitting on the road...lol
then i sat in a friends 370z.... it's even lower than the G... and the seats are so much better in the Z... i sat in the orange leather ones.... i really liked it there no question about F.I exhausts............ a hit for the G's and a hit for the Z's.... |

Plenty to enjoy in stock configuration... ENJOY and CONGRATS 'Z Momma'! :)
|
Woke up today...and still can't believe it's sitting in my garage :)
|
Avatar change? I can't believe that's you. I would never have pegged you for 40-ish
|
I look youngish :) But yes, that is me. I didn't have an avatar so I thought I'd put up a profile picture. I found the secret to staying young looking, you just stay a bit chunky and the wrinkles don't show :)
|
After the recommendation of the FI exhaust, I spent some time looking on youtube and watching a few videos. I did find a thread in this forum where he had put up all the pictures and a video of the exhaust.
My main concern with the exhaust is...I *AM* a bit older and as much as I want it to sound a little "tougher" (sorry, can't think of the right word) I don't want people looking at me and thinking, gee lady...enough with the mid life crisis already. :) Someone else mentioned a Borla exhaust me to m and I see a Stillen one a lot also when doing research. I guess I have some work to do. I know he'll put an exhaust on..but I think I might fight to keep the stock wheels..I really like them!?:yum: |
And I ordered my personalized plates last night :) I'm giddy as all hell. :happydance:
|
lol!
Omg... You should pass the z down to your son! Later on that is! |

your comment reminded me of how i felt yesterday after i finished waxing the z...i was thinking to myself, WoW i cant believe i actually own this car  looks like its a contagious feeling :icon17: |

I got my first compliment today while at Vons...I was at the check out stand and a young kid who was bagging came up to me and said he liked my car..I didnt even realize he must have seen me in the parking lot. He probably watched me trying to figure out if I was locking the doors correctly. It was pretty obvious I am still learning how to work the thing!
Took it for a drive through a nice windy road up to Ojai, California today... Really enjoyed that :) |
Congrats on the Z! 40? Old??? Oh show me the bus to get on to go back to 40!! If my car is a midlife thing I'm going to live a hell of a long time. I look at it like this, can't take it with you when you go, might as well have a big time while you're here. Good luck with the nursing gig, we need more of'em.
|
since you are in SoCal where the modding scene is huge, i bet you can see in person all the types of exhausts options...... and then decide which to go with
|
Welcome to the Z family! There is something about this car that makes you want to drive it :driving:
Also, i've tested both MT and AT, no probs with the 7AT at all!, its FAST and smooth!! Feels quicker than a MT  You should be loving the rev match too :tiphat: |
congrats! car looks great. my mom is 45 and i wish she'd rock one with me! that's very cool. seriously.
|
Good for you for the getting the toy YOU wanted. A week after I got my Z my wife also insisted on getting her dream car, a red Xterra. She's loving it.
You have a nice looking Z there, enjoy! :hello: |
im 18 and i got the AT lol. as for modding id say you have plenty of time. the car is still new and there arent a whole lot of parts out yet. greddy just came out with their systems and ive always liked them. ive also heard it isnt best to mod the car right away before the engine is ready. just have fun and enjoy this great car!
|
Welcome to the forum. Touring sports nav is a very attractive combo. If you have any question(s), don't hesitate to ask. That's why we have this forum. congrats :hello:
