Congrats on the new Z. The oil cooler is really a heat exchanger that uses the engine coolant to try and keep the oil temp down. If you look for the oil filter, it is screwed into the oil cooler. The attached picture is what mine looked like when I replaced it with the Nissan Motor Sport oil cooler. If you are not going to do any track driving, you probably don't need to replace the OEM cooler, but ANY spirited driving will drive the oil temp up high.
