Selling my '13 Subaru BRZ to Get a 370Z
:tiphat:
Howdy. Well I'm a 22 year old BRZ owner that's looking to switch over to the Nissan side of things. I love my BRZ to death, but due to low production and my impatience, I bought the automatic (only one coming in for 4 months) and regret the payment I accepted on it. Naturally, I've been itching for more power and a manual transmission, and have started to consider selling the BRZ while they're in high demand to minimize my loss. I've loved the Z's ever since I was a kid and have started researching the 350's and 370's and have decided one of the two will be my next car. I'm excited and figured I'd jump into the community now to really help with the purchase. What's up. :happydance: |
Nice man! If you go for a 350z get the 350z HR which I believe is the 2007 and 2008 models. Now for a 370 you can't go wrong any way as long as you get a sport package which is very useful. You'll love the Z cars, can't go wrong with them and very mod friendly.

Welcome aboard!

Welcome! :hello:

welcome. You might actually be in an ok position to sell too. Normally, you would take a huge bath, but with it being so new, I would try to sell it. Just curious though, why wouldn't you sell it and get a manual trans one? Not knocking the 350, as I had and loved mine, but I would think the BRZ would be close in performance to one. Now if you want to get a 370, thats another story.

My friend bought a BRZ as well, but in manual. Those were sold almost instantly unless it was an automatic which took a month or 2 to sell.

Welcome good luck!

There's a couple reasons to my decision. The BRZ, manual or not, is still slower in the straights than the 350. However, I'm thinking they'd be close in autocross events. With that said, BRZ's are now sold out until the 2014's around my area. With winter coming up, I don't count the ones coming over the cold months. That, and I like the idea of getting a lightly used 370Z for around the same price as the manual BRZ...but this gives me time over the winter to get a downpayment saved to have much lower payments than I'm suffering right now. I love the look of the BRZ, but now that I've owned one, I'm craving some more power for straights (even though I autocross) and want something different. I've always loved the look of the 350/370's. |

Very good unbias answer! 07-08 350Z or 370Z 03-06 have their issues....but a well maintain/modded Z regardless the year is alwasy good! |
This guy is looking to buy a BRZ automatic for his wife: http://www.the370z.com/other-vehicle...ml#post1944470

That car is way to sexy for sub $30K. I like 'em, GLWS!

I was expecting this to happen. PPL get one then get disappointed at how slow they are even with bolt ons. Only way to go is FI and then you put yourself in the position of getting a brand new car with zero warranty.... Good looking car though with potential, I will be tossing the idea of getting one a couple years old for $10k less and around 10k miles left on the warranty to make sure everything from the previous owner has time to come to a head if damage was done.

And the hell of it is, it will do all that for about the same cost on a used one. You can pick up a used 2010 sport package with reasonable miles on it now for upper 20's. I just bought a loaded 2011 (auto, sport, touring, nav) with low miles from a private seller for under 32K. Actually, depending on your budget, you can almost definitely get a 2012 below invoice now that the 2013's are out. Maybe eventually the twins will be offered with more power -- you can always go back some time in the future. They are great cars with tremendous potential. But right now, the 370Z is a far better sports car which can be gotten for about the same money if you don't mind one that's a not brand new. |
It is true what they say, patience comes with age ;)

On a side note, I'm intesrested to know if you'd still be selling the BRZ had it been a manual?

To be honest, most likely not. It's the power that's really got me hardcore into wanting to sell. I want to shift! That's the reason I even consider parting with it (because I really love it, and it's my first new car). I guess I got the young "I want it now" syndrome. Granted, I'm 22 so whatever. The whole point is, if I'm going manual for about the same price, I may as well pick up a car with more power that I've loved since I was younger (Z's were always my thing). The looks and idea of the FR-S/BRZ sold me on it in the first place. It was my first RWD car, so the lower power was probably a good idea. But now it's time to step up a little bit. In my defense, the payment is also a factor. I'll actually have a down payment on the 370z, unlike buying the BRZ with only $1800 down and still having a near $500/month payment. My target is ~350/month and I'll put down whatever it takes to get that on a Sport 2010+ Z. |

Welcome!
Some words of advice - Stepping into a 370Z will be like a rite of passage into car-manhood. You can't go around acting all crazy and $hit because your Z is so bad arse. This type of behavior makes us all look bad. You also have to learn to deal with the droves of super models throwing themselves at you on a daily basis. Most of the members here can offer up advice on how they cope with this one. Finally, wait a year or three before trying to go FI on your new Z as its power will surprise and sometimes scare even the most experienced drivers. Best of luck! :driving: |

We'll have to see what happens. Got my planning out for the next 8 months (when interest hit #2 happens) and hoping to get a 2010 Z around the 24K mark with decent mileage...and sport package of course. If that's the case, I'll have one right around the April/May time.
We'll have to see! |
