Hi all, so yesterday was a big day for me. I graduated with my doctorate in veterinary medicine and got a new 370Z from my 'rents I've been lurking on this site for a month or so, and feel it's time for a formal introduction
My name is Read, I like animals, car racing, automobile history, and long walks on the beach. I'm not new to nissans as I've owned a 240sx which I take to the track and autocross and live in a house with a bunch of car guys. I used to be active on many Nissan boards but have had no time over the last 4 years to deal with car stuff. Pics of my 240 and my Morgan are also below. 370 It was between the 5.0, STI, and 370Z for me. Since it was to be a 'surprise' that my parents (again thanks) were getting for me they nixxed the pony car because they have been unhappy with Fords in the past. The STI is also a wonderful car but I have no need for AWD in NC, and while turbos are fun more cylinders is even better. Plus with the STI I would HAVE to use premium. So here it is, a 2011 dealer owned Base + Sport 6MT Drives amazingly. Everything feels so tight and compared to 350s I've driven in the past it feels like a much more upscale car. The clutch is not as soft as I was expecting after reading some threads here and I am perfectly happy with it. While in my 240 I have gotten the hang of heal and toe, in the 370 I've just been letting SRM handle that and it is awesome. The blind spots are not the best of any car, but no where near as bad as other cars on the market today (read: camaro). The only two small gripes I have are that the driver's floorboard has a crease in it right where I would like to rest my heel between the gas and the brake, and the stability control kicked in once today when I was pulling out into traffic from gravel - the car just bogged down. I didn't get the car to look flashy or get compliments, but I've gotten a few thumbs up etc. which is always nice. I love the color too, that first pic I posted looks like MB but it is Black Cherry which I think makes the car look more grown up and like less of a cop magnet. Anyways, here are pictures of my other two cars, the 240 I think I will end up gutting and turning into a track slut. The Morgan can be my weekend car. My 240 is pretty much stock. Basic bolt ons (i/h/e) and suspension work. It's still pretty competitive in autocross though. Pic below was taken at CMP. I'm lucky enough to also live about an hour from VIR and have taken it up there a few times. The Morgan is a 1960 +4 4 seater that my grandfather picked up from the factory in Malvern in 1959 and it has been passed down to me. TR3 Engine with twin SU carbs (very similar to the hitachis that were on the 240Z) and a moss gearbox. Wood frame yadda yadda. Also guess I'll post a picture of my brother's car (green one). He has put tons of work into it, pieced together an awesome turbo kit and fabbed up most of the stuff himself. Makes ~400whp and weighs a few hundred less than a Z. He's helped me a lot in the past working on cars so figured I'd give him a plug. We both have green kouki S14s. Also (Not sure if I can post this mods delete if I can't 'advertise') my brother has started doing water transfers of interior pieces/helmets/engine pieces if anyone would be interested. Example is my roomate's valvecover below. Figured some Z folk may find it cool also. Personally I dont see the point of a valvecover looking like wood/camo/money etc. Last edited by Read T; 05-13-2012 at 06:43 PM. |

PLANS FOR THE Z:
1) Rear Fog Light 2) OEM Wheel Locks 3) ENJOY! Later on I may upgrade the sway bars, add an intake, or add an oil cooler. I don't see the need for an oil cooler in the meantime since I have no plans to track the Z (God I want to though). |
