Thinking about joining the family

Hey all, currently own a Mitsubishi 3000GT twin turbo and its getting to be about the time to sell her and move on, I'm just getting fed up with having an old car. The 370 honestly looks like the best option at the time, best deal for the money. I am a little hesitant given some things I have read on this forum. For example, loud rattling noises, oil temp issues, blind spots etc. I live in NY and doubt I will be heading to the track with the car, maybe some AutoX, will oil temp be a problem? Also like I said, I am tired of having an old rattling car... Lastly, I am uncertain about the different packages (would like the regular sports package with Navi, what kind of $$ am I looking at?) Would appreciate some experienced perspective, thanks!

Hi Pat,

I don't have any rattles on my car so far. Not sure what is setting off the rattles for some people, could be higher mileage, rougher roads etc.

Oil temp has not been a problem at auto-x so far, hits about 245-250 at the end of a run and then cools back down to 220. We typically do 4-5 runs in a set with 10-15 minutes between runs.

Blinds spots you get used to pretty quickly, just adjust the mirrors appropriately.

As for packages, 6MT base with sport goes for about $31 - 31.5K (invoice or just below) but these are getting hard to find at the moment. You can't get Nav with out getting the Touring model, so at that point you're looking at around $37K. 7-speed auto adds about $1200.

Greatly appreciated. 32k is about as far as my budget extends, so its disappointing to hear that to get the navi I need the touring model. BUT it is reassuring to hear that for my needs oil temperature shouldnt be an issue. Can anybody tell me how the car handles in slippery weather conditions?

  • No rattles. A squeak in the read fascia that some others have that tru_Asiatik suspects is the bumper styrofoam rubbing against the cover.
  • Nissan sells an oil cooler as well as just about all the vendors here.
  • The navigation in the 370Z is worth it (although we did not want it, it has features that cannot be adjusted unless you have nav (e.g., length of time the lights stay on; auto headlight on sensitivity; you can have the Service Department change these).
