Default Here to Rock and Roll

Hello everyone.
I've been trolling the site and figured I would finally register.

I live here in Southern CA (LA area).
I have a 2007 G35 coupe and was looking to move onto the new 370 Z.

The new Z seems like a nice package. It has a few problems right now but I will wait and see how Nissan handles it.

I read a review that the clutch on the new Z has a high engagement point. That is a shame, as my G35 is the same way. Not good Nissan. I also read that the manual trans is not smooth. Same with the G35. Also not good.
Please fix the "oil overheating" problem too Nissan.
We are hard core enthusiasts, not sheeple.

Perhaps I'll go with the 7 speed auto trans??? Then again.........Who am I kidding.

I'll try to post up when possible.

Later everyone.

Default I agree

Hey

I find the manual a little rough as compared to other cars I've owned in the past.
There's a lot of feedback felt through the clutch and the shifter. Oddly though, this is minimized with Synchro rev on even on upshrfts which from what I know is not a function of srm.
the only other major complaint are the blind spots which are unfortunate attributes derived from the Z's sexy design.
Hopefully for 2010 Nissan will not only include a back up camera but rear peripheral ones as well.
Despite these issues and my tendency to avoid first year models, I have no regrets for buying my 370.
It may not be as nimble as a Boxster or Cayman but I actually believe It's better built, faster and sticks to the road better. When you factor in the Tech, Japanese reliability and price, it becomes a no brainer_

If you're interested in a Z and waited this long, why not wait for the 10's, after all, it's not like your driving a piece of Crap

The G35 is a nice ride but I just don't have much fun with it because of the 6mt trans and the clutch.

I've got it up for sale and it has only 4950 miles on it.

Definitely waiting for the 2010 Z to see what Nissan will improve on.
Hopefully direct injection also.

Styling of the G37 was a big let down for me. So I'm not moving onto Infiniti again anytime soon.

The Z has basically the same clutch and transmission that was in the G35, the only change is a switch from double cone to triple cone syncros on 1st, 2nd, 3rd. I don't mind the trans actually.

Direct injection isn't likely to hit the Z until 2011.

Default G is a little bland

I've always been an Infiniti fan since I got my first one in '93.

Having said that, my latest search came down to the Z and the G37 coupe.

I went with the Z because even though the G is stylish and a retied grand touring sports car, it somehow comes off as bland, plus there are so many on the road, they all get lost in the shuffle.

I get a complimentary look or gesture from just about every G driver I come across. I'm not an attention hound but it always feels good to put a smile on someone's face.

the Z like any "impractical" sport car conjours up a little envy because it conveys a free spirit, screw conformity lifestyle, especially when you're over 40 like me!

I met with real estate broker last week to view a commercial property I'm interested in buying and all he could do for the first 10 minutes is stare and talk about my Z. It was pretty funny!.

If there's a better looking, better handing, faster car with a storied pedigree on the market for the money, I haven't found it.
