New guy from MN!

Hello all!

I'm not new to the car world, but I'll be a college graduate pretty soon and looking to step into a 370z pretty soon :). I currently drive an 04 Sentra se-r spec v.

I just need some inputs from actual Z owners rather than edmunds or "Car N Driver".

Some of my questions about these Zs are:

I have my eyes glued on 3 models in particular:

370z w/ sport package
370z w/ sport package + touring
or
nismo 370z.

which one is better? what is the difference between the "sport package" and the "sport package + touring" besides the obvious leather seats?

The nismo model has 20 more ponies, suspension, and a higher rev limit. I'm not too concern about the nismo cosmetic or suspension enhancement, but I'm interested in the engine itself. What makes it have 20 more ponies? what makes it have a higher rev limit? are the internals of the VQ in the nismo different from the VQ in the regular? I know that the IPL g37 has a better flowing head supposedly than the regular g37, but I'm curious on what makes the nismo have a slightly different engine characteristics?

Hey there homeryansta, I'm right by you in Brooklyn Center. LOL!
If you're looking for the best combo, go Nismo with Navigation package or Sports+Navigation package. I wish I had added the navigation package on mines since I will be driving all over.
Anyway, I hope to get mines at the end of this month. When are you getting yours? What color?

The nav is only offered on the touring model (with or without sports package). The power increase between NISMO and the other models is from a different exhaust and tune.

So basically the way it works on which model you get is affordability or how much your are going to mod.

Molding everything go for the base
Molding the exhaust but not suspension and brakes get the sport package
Not going to mod but wanted to go for the NISMO
Like leather and fancy techy stuff get the touring with nav

If things goes as planned, maybe this summer or fall. Navigation is a must! Are the cloth seats sport seats? good quality seats? or is it cheapo as in civic base model cloth seat cheap?

I'm planning to mod the car of course. I'm in my mid 20's and I am itching to get it fully bolted and lowered :). It looks like I'll be getting the sport+touring then if that is the only way to get the nav.

The LSD and brake kit makes the sport package worth it already. Does the sport package come with better suspension as well?

Lemers 04-12-2011 10:38 PM

No I think only the NISMO has a different suspension.

Have there been any info on the the stock whp/wtq vs fully bolted whp/wtq?

There are a lot of threads on this forum covering all sorts of gains from Bolt-ons.

Seats

The cloth seats are of high quality but after sitting on leather seats, seemed more comfy more giving.

For the price of the Nav package, you could get a good aftermarket HU which would deliver a whole lot more features.
I don't believe redline is different on any of the models. They all peak at 7500. I believe the difference that you are referring to is where the HP peaks.
I you're planning on doing a lot of mods, it would be kind of couterproductive to buy the Nismo. It has a little more HP and a slightly tighter suspension, but if you're going to drop it and basically change the suspension, get a cheaper model and spend your money on mods.

Good point on the Nav! It looks like the sport package non-touring is the better buy.

Nice to see other Minnesotans! I'm in Bloomington. Looking to buy my Z within the month. :happydance:

Best of luck with your search!

Also the Touring includes bluetooth, bose system, leather/heated/power seats.
