hello everyone
Hey, I finally decided to register after months of browsing through existing threads. I recently sold my 2004 srt4 with about 300whp to help me finish school. I currently have three semesters left and when i graduate I am planning on getting either a EvoX or a 370Z. which leads me to my first question that has been asked a million times but for those that have owned many more cars than me what is your opinion on the above cars, I know they are complete opposites just curious which is more desirable for a car to mod, drive on nice days, and ocasional track use. Also sorry this is the wrong section I am sure. Either way thanks in advance for all the future knowledge i will get from this site.

Where to start, where to start....
First off, both the Evo X and 370Z are relatively expensive cars. Minimum $550/month payment without a trade-in, plus insane insurance (more so for the 370Z actually), and then rigorous maintenance costs. What are you majoring in? How do you know you're guaranteed a job in this rough economy? How much school debt do you have to pay off? Clearly you're not making any cash on the side if you had to sell your SRT-4 and replace it with a Buick Park Avenue... My general rule of thumb is to not try to finance or own a car that costs more than 75% of what you make. Why? Because you simply cannot afford it. I know this isn't the answer you were looking for and I'm being kind of an a**hole, but I'm just giving it to you straight. I'm 22 and I own a highly modified Evo X and a '10 370Z. I can tell you the pro's and con's of both, but what I can tell you that trumps any of that is you most likely cannot afford either, so don't even bother. Don't be like these imbeciles I notice every day who make $35k (if that), and are somehow trying to scrape by while making a payment + insurance + maintenance on a nearly $40,000 car. It's ridiculous. I don't care if you *think* you can afford X or Y, I'm just trying to save you the headache of trying to sell your car, or having it repo'd when you get canned upon the next economic downturn. Find the means, then pull the trigger. Until then, just leave your pipe dreams alone.

welcome to the community! your pretty much looking at awd turbo with great tuning ability or a rear wheel drive sports car that's refined and balance. Test drive them both and see which one you'd like. payments & insurance is going to be a lot higher then your srt-4!

well i was hoping for a little warmer welcome here. I am researching for a future purchase here after school when the money is there. i am majoring in finance and minoring in insurance( possible double majoring). I really am not to worried about the job market in these categories but it is what it is. I simply asked pros and cons and for opinions. By the way what do you do for a living 22 years old and about 100k worth of cars and parts seems a little odd( just curious). The reason I sold the Srt4 was solely for financial security and the park avenue was a freebie. Anyways id like more opinions on the pros and cons and a little less on the money factor ill handle that by myself. thank you

i really appreciate the insight and i knew you sold drugs lol , but yea if all works out with school and life after school those are the two iv narrowed it down too, but if a new car comes out that I like the list may change. I do plan on modding but nothing major until the warranty goes so exhaust, intake, rims, gauges a new interior( if the evo wins), and suspension, but in the end i would like to go big turbo. How do you like the awd compared to rwd?

I wouldn't even worry about a car until you start working. Concentrate on school and puttng your foot in the door with a company. I make good money but I made sure that all was taken care of for my family before I even thought about getting the Z

What you said to the OP is pretty rude, and your judging his whole life but a 4 sentence post while tooting your own horn... i know I'm late here... but this is the crap i see on the 350 site, not here... To the OP, if you want to mod to go fast straight evo x. if you want a nicer looking better drivers car get the Z... but I sold my Z and after thousands in mods I had wished I left it stock, and saved money... You can spend money to make it look nice but other than some HFC I don't think its worth modding the Z for the 40 whp you pick up for thousands... My new car that was factory turbo-ed for under 500 dollars i picked up 80 hp and tq in 30 minutes by simply installing a piggy back tune... the evo x is in that category of car that rewards you for mods rather generously... have you made any decision yet ?
