Interested buyer
Hello my name is Mark.
I am currently deployed in Afghanistan with the 101st ABN DIV from Ft Campbell and I am interested in buying a 370Z when I get back. I am stuck between Base/sports or touring/sports package. It all started when a lot of soldiers around me were looking at cars. So I decided to look at some too. When my wife moves with me when I get back I have to get her a car so I asked her what car she wanted. She wanted a jeep or a mustang. I've been around import cars when I was growing up so I told her we have to get an import. We have no kids, so to enjoy things I became interested in the Z. Unfortunately, the pathetic thing is that I can don't drive manual. I've never owned nor has my family owned a manual vehicle. I understand the concept, but never got used to it, so I am looking at getting an auto transmission vehicle. *don't bash me* It looks like a lot of people are getting the base/touring with carpeted mats and the painted splash guard. I am new to this Z scene or even the modding scene. So please enlighten me. I do not plan to do any or much mods. I'd appreciate your opinions! |

I don't know how to drive stick either, but the paddle shifters with the 7AT are pretty sweet.
As far as sport/base or sports/touring..it's up to how much you want. Touring has the bose stereo, leather seats. I originally bought a base model in hopes to upgrade the stereo and seats, but that never happened after 1.5 yrs with it. So I just recently upgraded to the sports/touring. Much more comfortable ride Good luck with your decision! |

So you had the base/sport, but just went back and got the touring/sport?
This would be my first car of choice, so I want to have everything I wanted such as bose and heated seats. I'd like the touring/sport though. So you notice a better/smoother ride? AWESOME! I am set to return mid next year so hoping to get a deal on the older 2010 models since the 2011 models are rolling in. I just feel embarassed to have a sports car with AT, but after reading the thread with the prices people get, there are a larger number than I thought of AT drivers. Plus, don't mind AT so my wife can drive when I don't want too *like all the time* lol thanks for the reply! |

I have the Sport/Touring and Navigation system and its a 7AT...I had manual cars before and automatic is great especially if traffik is stop and go.....
I purchased the fully loaded due to all the creature comforts and larger rims + NAV, I could of easily got a NISMO instead but decided that I rather have the 7AT. Main reason if you choose SPORT/Touring is if you plan on not upgrading anything??? yourself.....then again having a fully loaded factor spec always has a lil higher resale value for trade in if you end up having a CRUMBSNATCHER LOL J/K ***Support Our Troops*** |

hey 370sport09. I was looking at your avatar and if I see it correctly...HAFA ADAI!!! lol
I am from Guam. I am planning on going there for RnR in the NEAR future! I easily spotted the seal. Ok, maybe Touring/sport it is! How much did you get yours? I am not into mods. Maybe just the sounds. |

The Touring package adds mainly interior options: heated leather seats, alcantara door inserts, better stereo. If you aren't upgrading the interior, it is a good idea.
Even if you want a nicer stereo, or after-market nav, it is ok. But you could consider leather seat covers + stereo upgrade and get the base model. If you get Touring+Nav, don't upgrade anything beyond the speakers/amps (at most, and probably a little tricky on a Bose). It is the sports package that should be dropped if you plan a lot of driving mods.

If I do get a car, I am leaning towards a Touring/sport so it can be pretty much set without any needed mods/additions.
What are your opinions with the nav. system? how much is it? thanks for the replies! |

Well I suggest to you to get the 7AT Touring/Sport Package. No shame on not knowing how to drive stick shift. Thats why I bought my wife the Auto. The paddle shifter is real nice, Bose system nice too. You don't have to worry about any mods. Maybe just CAI and Exhaust, the rims are real nice. I didn't get the Nav System It was too much money for me. It's a real nice car I had the 08 350 but I had to upgrade. Gd luck with purchase. Im also in the military FT. BRAGG.

I like the Nav system, and with the 2011 having a backup camera as well, it's really useful. Mainly I use the iPod interface on the touchscreen, though. However, you also get some additional settings (like headlight delay) and a trip computer.
The only negative on the Navigation is the charge for updating - you have to buy a code online then pay the dealer to install the update (!). Seems like it should be included I the warranty or upgradeable via USB or Flash these days.

First of, thanks for your service and stay safe over there. Imo, I'd go with the touring/sport pkg. Esp if you aren't going to mod it much. You'll get the nice power, heated leather seats, if you go with the nav, it's a very nice unit and for '11, you'll get the backup camera too. The 7sp auto tranny is a very good auto, but you could always learn to drive stick too, it's not that hard, but either way, you'll be happy with either type of Z. Good luck w/your decision. |

Main 09 - 10 is supposed fix to excessive oil consumption that occurs on some 09s and early 10s, supposedly fixed. Main documented difference is improved Nav screen with USB support and iPod interface, instead of just iPod interface and compact flash slot. I believe the 10 also has heated mirrors. There is a thread for these differences.
In 11 they added the backup camera to the Nav system.
