Base/Sport or Sport/Touring
Hey guys, I've been on the hunt for the right Z for me for a few weeks now and I've decided that I certainly am not going to buy a regular base.
With that said, what are some opinions on the Touring package? I have been fighting the urge to shell out the extra cash for the leather and other options I really don't NEED. I think the Base/Sport will fit me, but is the quality of the leather and Bose system acutally worth the extra $$? I would almost certainly add an aftermarket stereo with something that has a better iPod connection, I really don't care about bluetooth or heated seats. Are there any other benefits? Thanks! |

But thats why you need to go out for a test drive? try look at a base and touring and keep the mod idea in mind. I have the touring with the sport pkg, and only mods I've done are the exhaust and intakes, springs, sways. The Bose audio is pretty good for a stock radio, and way better than base one.

With Touring+Nav I don't see how an iPod interface could be much better?
Touring includes power heated leather + alcantara seats, autodimming mirror, the rear cargo cover, passenger seatback map pocket (!), alcantara door inserts, aluminum pedals / footrest and the homelink garage opener as well as the upgraded stereo with bluetooth phone. If you think the Touring stereo isn't good enough, I guess the question is do you have a garage? Do you like leather+alcantara power seats? Without the Touring stereo and power seats, you might as well get the Base model. If you can live with the Touring stereo, or Touring+Nav Stereo, then I think it is worth it.

Base
Hey, I say get the base to save the money. I like the 19inch wheels better but the 18inchers have a quieter ride. I have a black on black base and love it. I've added the splash guards( important) and a clear bra. The interior has cloth which I like very much. Looks very nice with the stiching. The base audio is decent too. Might upgrade but not imortant. I like the rear trunk/hatch lines also minus the spoiler although I may add it. Heated seats no factor as I will never drive in the winter. Overall the savings gives more future options. After one year, love that car just as the first days. Cannnot go wrong either way. Rich

While it is moot at this point, I think it is just a question of terminology
The 370Z comes in four models: Base, Touring, Nismo, Roadster. The 370Z has some ala carte options: floor mats, Nismo floor mats, trunk carpet, splash guards, illuminated sills, auto, aero kit, navigation, Nismo brake pads The 370Z can have three option packages: Sport, Navigation, 40th Anniversary Not all combinations are available. So he is saying you can get a Base with SRM, VLSD, etc - it is called a Base + Sport options package. And you are saying you don't want a base because you want SRM, VLSD, etc. But that is a base model, just with the sport options package added. Not a separate model. Congratulations on your upcoming purchase!

if you don't care about heated seats and bose and all that, and you plan to get an aftermarket stereo, you might as well just skip the touring, do your aftermarket stereo and headunit and get some aftermarket leather seats.
