Thank you for the info. I am having it removed. I would never want to have this happen again. I think that it is a safety issue even if it was my fault. I really do appreciate the feed back though.

Usually the car would stall but if you have enough RPM when the ECU is in cold start mode it could take off like it did in your case.

For what it's worth, the dealership never should have agreed to install it on your car. Remote start is only safe on the automatics.

The word "lawyer" popped up very early in this thread.
Now "I must say.......noone ever showed me how to use it.......they just called me on the phone."

This thread is not a bunch of crap......believe me, it happened. I have the road burns to show for it. I had no idea that they had to disengage the clutch or I would NEVER had it installed. If I had known that it was such a hazard.......didn't do my homework on this.

I think the car was warmed up enough. I just stopped for gas. The dealer offered this to me in a package of other things, like lojack and all. I thought, wow, this would be great. they said it was new to do this to a MT.

the word "Lawyer" popped up because the car ran into a auto dealership across the road. They came running out to see what happened and told me it was not legal to do this and that a safety switch had been removed. I'm not here to argue, I will get the car fixed and learn from this. I posted this thread to get some help about it. I am not a mechanic and thought it was a safe option since the dealer offered it.

Thanks Steve. I REALLY do appreciate all the help. I am new to this forum and thought I could get some help with what happened. It's embarrasing and I had no idea about the darn thing.

It's a like a golden rule not to install a remote starter on a MT. search YouTube and there are countless vids of what happened with you. The E-Brake is good for nothing IMO.
Anyways, chalk it up as a lesson learned. How bad is the damage btw? Driving over a curb makes me cringe... That can mess up suspension components. |
