Default z lover and a dreamer

hello all, my name is Kyle and im a new yorker. I love these cars with a passion, and cannot wait to get my hands on one. My question to you guys is how do you afford such a splendid sports car? I want one mostly because i love cars, but also because i have a monster commute looming over me for next year, and id like to see a 370 parked in my driveway by june '11. Any advice?

It's an affordable sports car. So it's not that hard to afford.

General Rule of thumb is for your car payment to be 20% of your monthly income, if it exceeds that i wouldnt advise it depending on your expenses

aka: rent/utilities/phone/internet/cable/food/insurance/credit cards/possible G/F etc

so i guess it depends on how much you put as a down payment; also if you are looking to afford a vehicle you may benefit from a used 370z, i have seen a couple advertised on these boards that i wished i would have seen before i bought mine new

if you are able to get one, you will not mind living off of ramen noodles for the remainder of your loans term lol

You seem like a pretty young guy... my guess is still in college or just entering college? If Im wrong, then I apologize lol. Im not much older, 26, but have been in your shoes before. And the best peice of advice I can offer is to just save up a hefty down payment (prolly between 5-7500) and then if you still want the car go and get it then. Never wanna spread yourself too thin cause it usually always comes back to bite you.

droc, you hit the nail on the head. Im entering my freshman year of college next year for mechanical engineering, and im looking at a minimum daily commute of 60 miles. Plus a further 60 if i decide to visit the gf.

would that used one be a sport pack car? because isnt the centerpiece of the car its synchrorev match gearbox? in a perfect world id like the touring + sport pack car, but its so damn expensive.

haha, it probably would be, but i love my girlfriend very much, so i can live with the extra challenge.
Lucky her, her parents gave her a 35th anniversary mustang gt, black, stick shift, garage kept. All my parents gave me was my dads old beat up integra...

Just enjoy the Integra for now. I wouldn't try and stretch your dollar too much.

Plenty of time in the future to waste money on nice cars...

You might want to think about an economy car for your kind of commute. Save for a nice car while in college and reward yourself when you graduate. But decide for yourself. Do the math and see if you can swing the payments. Remember to add insurance, maintenance, and gas to your calculations ... For example, if you get the car for 33k out the door and you put 8k down at 3% you're looking at around $450 a month payment. Add gas expenses -- with your commute maybe close to $50 a week ... etc.

Whatever you decide, best of luck in school.

im very passionate about cars and motor sport, and i dont think i could live with myself if i bought an econobox. besides, i got myself addicted to auto-x, and thats not going away any time soon haha. Id also consider a 350z, but value/money i think it loses out considerably to the 370z.

Well your first post seemed to suggest that money was a concern. Passion don't pay the bills
