Was the Ferrari showing signs of its age? Any kinda miss? Lotsa repairs lately? I l-o-v-e Zs, but a Ferrari-to-Z move sounds weird. At any rate, congrats', guy!

When you spend $3000 to replace a lost key or 1900 to fix faulty fans you won't think its weird.

The enjoyment of owning one is overwhelmed by the sheer cost of operating it. You sell an Ferrari with 10K miles regardless of how old it is and its considered high mileage. Drive your Z every day and put 60K miles on it and its still a great car. Hard to explain.

I don't care about what people think, I just like to drive I could go on all day why I wouldnt have another one, their just a Pain in the *** when it comes down to it.

Motoextreme: I hadn't quite analyzed it that way. Native Americans say, "Never criticize your brother's limping, until you walk a mile in his moccasins". I guess that sums up my take from your posts. I'm with you, kid; once more: Congrats'!

Well, It's official!!! I traded the Ferrari, and took delivery of my new Z last night!!!!!

What an ordeal at the dealer. The car came through with some scratches AUGGGGH!!!!!

I had to drive part of the way home on the snowy roads. BTW, The Yokohama's suck in the snow!!!!

I'll find out on Monday from my tire guy if I can get the Conti Extreme all season tires in the sizes I need for the 370. I have them on the 944S and it drives like a tank in the snow. Really good on the dry and wet roads as well. Great all season tire.

AND, What a car the Z is. Haven't been able to really drive it hard yet, waiting for the roads to clear up a bit, but the car is pretty fast and very sticky!!!! Nice feel to it.

As for the Ferrari, maintenance is a big issue with them. $4,000 for the 15,000 service (timing belts change etc) and then $7,000 at the 30,000 service. AND whatever happens in between. BUT, most parts can be cross referenced to other manufactures and save lots of $ instead of buying from Ferrari. AND if you can do the work yourself, THEN it is not that big of an issue.

The boys at the Ferrari site were talking about resale and loss of resale value with the 370Z, but when you consider their maintenance costs, seems like the Z is the best bet.

PLUS.... I know the Ferrari was 25 years old, but, the Z will eat it for breakfast in every aspect except for the exhaust sound. The EURO Ferrari 308 sounds awesome!. That will never be matched by the Z I don't think. IMO

QUESTION: I noticed in the manual that there is a 1,200 mile break in period. Have any of you stuck to that! Is it important not to rev past 4,000 for that period. I'm curious as to all you're opinions on this.

ok so you will get 10,000 posts explaining how you should stick to your break in b/c nissan engineers know it all... but let me tell you what I did - I never drove the car for the first 200 miles more than 30 mins @ a time. Each session I rev'd once to red-line and kept it all over the revs generally up to 5k sometimes to 6. I stopped over to let her cool down after each 30 min session as I had a long drive home. Oil change @ 500 miles then again at 1500 miles. Now I do one about every 1500 to 2000 miles. After the first couple hundred miles I started driving it like I do always (pretty heavy footed). Just make sure you listen to the car - do all the services and be diligent w/ the oil and it will treat you good. This is my second VQ - and she runs strong as ever

I was a good boy for about 800 miles and then I just couldn't resist winding it out. After I did it the first time, there was no going back! Very addictive.

Well Gentlemen, ... and Ladies,

I must say, that after taking delivery of my new Z, how impressed I am with this car!!!!

It handles like a dream, and has pulling power throughout the rpm range, nice exhaust sound, beautiful lines, comfortable cockpit. Just really sweet!

(I actually like the handling of the Z better than the Porsche Cayman I tested, the Porsche even though it is mid engine with perfect balance, just felt a bit light in the nose)

I am still in a "1200 mile break in" period, and haven't been able to really drive it yet. I'm anxious to get through this period so I can really see what the car is all about.

I would like to hear the opinions of some of those head strong Ferrari guys who were bashing me on their site for the trade in, if THEY could actually drive the 370Z BEFORE they had such harsh criticisms. I think they would have a different opinion.

Trouble with the Ferrari...let me guess....maintenance and upkeep. Costs as much as the car?

That's the deal with the Ducati......I have one of those.

370Z will cost nothing except fuel, tires and occassional oil changes.
