In a dilemma

From what i've seen so far we have a good group of people here so i decided to register.

As my name implies im still deciding if the 370 or the S2k is right for me. The Z has better numbers on paper and is a new design, but the S2k has the drop top and a cheaper price.

What do you guys think.

Im sort of in the same dilemma...I used to own a s2k until I wrecked it though. S2k is the most fun car ive ever had, waiting to go test drive the Z to compare. Only reason im leaning toward the Z is for the wifey. I think it will bea lot more comfortable or her. s2k is a bitch to get in and out of, specially if ur dropped.

Welcome! :hello:

The 370Z is a lot more machine than the S2K. Huge HP difference, difference in weight and price. The roadster is nice, but the 370Z ZR is coming out in 2010. Condifer your options and finance's and go from there.

I can understand how your wife would prefer the Z more. Luckily i don't have to consider that situation for another few years.

I did happen to sit in a 370 at my dealer and it felt good, just like the 350 from what i remember. Im still waiting on a base + sport package to arrive before i test drive. However i just love the feeling i get when i sit in the s2k, it fits like a perfectly sized glove. Im only 5'6 so maybe thats why.

No, I know what you mean haha. If I were you I would get s2k. No women or kids so no need for practical (not saying the Z is practical, but for some reason I find the s2k more unpractical) and ladies <3 the drop top.

Thank you for the welcome!

Unfortunately i can't wait for the 370 drop top, i've been waiting for too damn long now. My newest car is 11 years old and its starting to demand more trips to the shop. I want to reduce its load to just winters and help myself to a new car this spring/summer.

The new Z has damn good performance im sure; even the weight i think is acceptable. It doesn't look as polarizing when seen in person and it comes with cloth seats!

The only problem is that i think i can get into a new S2k for 20k + TTL. While the Z might be much more machine, is it $12k more machine (im targeting $32k + TTL for a base + sport 370Z)? I will know the price on the S2k for sure in about 2-3 weeks but it should be around $20k-22k new.

Im certainly leaning that way and several people are encouraging me to do as you suggest. If i get a good deal i will go through with it, if not then the 370 will be in my driveway.

I hate to say it, but I see the s2k sort of like the audi TT. It might be fun to drive... but its a bit more fitting for a female behind the wheel!

Go for the Z.

I would be interested to know how you will get a NEW s2k for 20k when they sticker for 35k? I just got out of a 2007 s2k, and believe me, the 370z is a superior machine.

This seems simple to me. I was in a similar situation, but I also looked at a used C6 vette, a used 911, the MSpd3, WRX, S2K, and Z. After driving the S2k, it went very low down on the list, and compared to the Z had no comparison (I thought). The S2K was nice, but as is typical with the Hondas, boring until 6k rpm. The Z is fun all the way, is bigger, and faster. You will easily make your decision once you drive the Z and S2k.

Can you expand on the comparison some more? I assume you have your 370 already.

IMO:
Performance: easily Z wins, i don't think s2k should be allowed to be in the "same league" as the Z because of the performance gap.
Looks: Out going Z model was good lookin, but the newer model looks much better as for the s2k, no noticeable change in last 8-9 yrs?...

go for Z

I previously owned a MY00 S2000 and loved it. I am now waitin a couple more weeks for my local Nissan dealership to get a Base + Sport so I can drive it to see what I think...There are many twisties where I live and I was on them non-stop with the S2k and to be honest it's hard for me to believe that the 370 will out handle the S, but I guess I will find out when I test drive...

I have sat in a 370 and I'm sad to say that I like the way my S felt inside a lil more and I'm 6'2...Buuuut, at the same time my view of a "sports car" is being cramped up and everything fitting to you like a glove (not you having to reach or adjust for anything) and minimal creature comforts also.

As far as acceleration I'm sure the 370 has the upper hand, no questions asked. As somebody stated before, Honda's don't get too exciting until about 6k rpms.:driving:
