"Upgrading" From The SL to The Z

Hey guys! Well I've been lurking for some time... eyeballing the Z34. I'm finally where I want to be financially and I pulled the trigger on a 2017 Z with sport package, 2017 model year with 6 speed, Gun Metallic. ;)

Put down my deposit on a special order a couple weeks ago and the wait has been killing me!

So anyways a little about me, I've been in Mercedes Town for the last ten years, specifically the R129 chassis SL Roadster, I've actually owned three of them, but I still have my old mans 92 500SL. I'm planning to get out of the car very soon, it's been very well maintained and its an awesome car and I love the top down feel but when this car breaks down it puts a serious hurt on your wallet and too many expensive components can break. Most likely I will trade it in on the Z when the car comes in and be done with it.

I also have a 05 Jetta TDI that just turned 100k as my DD, and my GF has a 16 Impreza so I won't be daily driving the Z.

Well just thought I would stop in and say hi, looking forward to being a positive member of this forum!

I'm hoping I can drive the sport Z for a few years and then upgrade to the Nismo, assuming the Z34 is still around and we don't have a Z35 by then. :happydance:

Nice pick!

However.. If you really wanted a Nismo... You should've bought a one year old Nismo, as opposed to buying a brand new Z... In the end you'd have likely paid the same price, however, you don't have to worry about the first year depreciation.

And to be honest, that's exactly what I did :D

I bought a 2016 Nismo this year. It was purchased brand new in 2015 and then traded in for a GT350 mustang. Original owner's loss, was my gain. I got my hands on a mint condition Nismo with only 1800km (1200 miles) on it, for much less than new.

Either way, what's done is done. Enjoy the car- it'll put smiles on your face for many miles!

Well... even if a Z35 is introduce, the Z34 will still be around :D

Congrats and welcome to the family!

Man sounds like you got an awesome deal!

That would be an option if there were some available, this car isn't too common in my area. Think I've seen one other person who owns one in my town, chicane yellow 09 base model... Dealership had 3 Z cars on the lot, an 12 Touring AT with 57k miles they wanted $21k for. 16 Nismo Tech 7AT and 17 Nismo Tech 7AT both right around 48k sticker price.

I'm happy with what I'm getting, for now. Also this is my first brand new car ever so I'm not too concerned with depreciation. More concerned with everything being just right.

Really happy with how friendly everyone is over here! The guys over in the Merc forums had some uhh "interesting" opinions when I told them I was making the switch. :crying:
