Default How I got my 370z at 17 years old

so ive been on these forums for a while now and I thought I would share to you guys the story of how I got my 370Z. Rewind to about March 2016, I saw a 370z zoom past me in my old clunker mustang.. i was like Holy ****, i want one of those one day.. So then one day my dad was joking around and asked if I wanted to go test drive some fast cars just for fun (ahhh my dad).. i was like yeah!!! lets go see the 370's!! he was actually joking but ended up taking me to go see them.. i test drove it and fell in love. The first thing my dad said was "Omg, you would kill yourself in this".. I was so sad to hear that. From then on I was obsessed with Z cars, my dad quickly seen as I would spend my time reading about z's , watching videos about Z's, etc.. fast forward to May 24th, the night before I graduated, my dad had to use the restroom as we were driving (like it was an emergency)... I quickly said go to the nissan dealership that was across from where we were (im so happy he had to **** his pants at that moment and not later lol) , they will have a bathroom!! (i just wanted to see the GTR or 370's they might have..) my dad uses the restroom and sees a used 370Z, it was brilliant silver, 12k miles, sport pkg... it was so beautiful. My dad said, lets test drive this one now.. he drove it and something clicked in his head and asked me if I wanted to see how mom would feel about it. We asked her and she was not for it but my dad said lets go run some numbers and see what we can do.. My mom said No so many times, so the dealership kept throwing in things to ease up my mom. My mom got me 6year, 100k, bumper to bumper warranty, Gap thrown in, free exterior/interior protection package.. a chunk of money off the price and they offered me $1000 dollars for my mustang without even seeing it ( Was not worth $1000). My dad said just do it and it was done. I drove it home and the next morning I drove to Grad practice like a boss, I have been so happy since. I love this car even though its not practical, i dont care. I plan to start a youtube channel to document my experience with this car, would any of you watch? anyways, thats my story, i would love to hear your stories..

-Chris

Cool story, Chris.

I remember when I was 17, I thought I knew all there was to be known.

Enjoy the ride.

Enjoy the euphoria, I know I did, just remember to stay in touch with reality. Not trying to be a **** as my own son is only two years older than you and I would say the same to him having myself been that age once. Really, enjoy the car for what it is and if you feel like pushing the limits, bring it to a track.

As for myself, I wanted a Z since the 350Z came out in 2003 and got a 370Z just last year. Now I am looking to join the few who have purchased a nismo by trading my current one in.

Go to a few auto crosses and figure out how to drive it. It's a lot of car even bone stock. It's more capable than you are at 17, so respect it and it won't throw you off the road backwards. Be careful, it can get away from you if you drive like a jackass.

wow thank you all for your replys. yes the feeling is very euphoric. I repsect the car every time I drive it and I know that if I am careless, I could kill myself. I will admit, i do like to have a little fun in the canyon, but nowhere near this cars limits. I have actually raced on a track a few times, but I would not consider myself experienced. But I have taken a lot of defensive driver courses and have learned alot about regaining control of vehicles and such... I doubt I will push this car soon.. I have to much to lose if I crash, my life and my mom would probably make me get rid of the car. I am definately going to start youtube so I can document this all, Im not sure if I plan to mod, maybe some cosmetic stuff.. im afraid of even driving without VDC..

Good stuff Chris, you sound like a very decent and appreciable young man. Continue to do right by your parents and life will grant you plenty, the older I get it seems the kids these days either forgot it or were never taught it. Congrats young man.

Great story and since u love the car I'm sure you will respect it make sure you don't drive it like an azz not trying to be rude but like others said it is a lot of car for a young man. I have 2 sons 12 and 20 and I tell them the same things all the time specially my older son because I want to see him live and enjoy life!

But on the flip side congrats on graduating and the car I hope it brings you lots of joy.

Thank you all for the kind words!! I did not make this clear.. This car was not a gift.. helping me get into the car was my gift . I do have to work for the car while I am in college, but believe me, it is very worth it to me.
