HELP PLEASE - issues after stillen cai gen3 install
Hi guys,
I would strongly appreciate if someone could give me advice about my concern shortly : My zed is 2014,EU, 7AT, regular version (not nismo), everything has been running well, until my car got some modes -F.I. catback 18inch (this is ok for sure) and Stillen CAI 3GEN. After installing CAI (all done by dealership), the salesman called me a I was told that engine cant keep idle revs - going up/down. When they returned the car to stock intake, everything was ok. He tried to explain it to me, that the values on MAF sensors being very high due the increased diameter of intake tubes and the CPU was unable to deal with it/learn. Than he told me, that tomorrow there will be a techniciac skilled in wires and he will modify the wires to deal with that problem. I asked him (salesman) what exactly they want to modify, he responed - connectors and pins to set the "correct" values or to bypass reading errors.. WTF?? Never heard about doing this... Please, can anyone make a suggestion, what could be the problem? PS. sorry for my poor english |

You only have one problem!
You mistakenly brought your car to the dealership who doesn't know a F*ck what the hell they are doing! Im sorry I just hate the dealership would make such recommendation for just a simple aftermarket installation then charge you a ton of money. Then if your car mess up they will place the blame on you and threaten of voided warranty. My suggestion pull out your car and ask the forum the nearest shop in your area to fix this. I never used the dealership to install aftermarket parts! Most they all know is to do change oil and minor fixes. Unless they have a master tech that is GTR certified. You are in Slovakia? Try to search for shops who does performance aftermarket upgrades or who does tuning of cars. It must be your MAF sensor needs to be checked.
Normally the ECU just needs to be re-set. Search the forum with this topic. |

It need to be done in dealership because of warranty and this is the only one that have any experience with intake/exhaust moding. I live in a small country and we have only few Nissan dealerships, the one that i brought my car in is in the capital and they are GTR certified.. What about my q? |

Did he run it without the MAF not in the CAI? Did he disconnect the battery when he installed it?
Its a pretty straight forward procedure to install this..seems to be the main one that everyone on here installs. I myself installed it this week with zero issues. Its something your dealer did. Just because its GTR certified does not mean there actually good. I dont see how installing that has anything to do with the warranty. |

The only thing I can think of they might have missed some hoses or correctly install the MAF (mass air flow)sensor.
As powetwiz stated this should be a straightforward install. |

In the directions it specifically states as well to not run the car without the MAF's inserted back in..doing so can cause issues..perhaps he did. I don't know you read the directions to install it but its pretty simple...18 steps I believe. The only hard thing about it is dremeling or enlarging the vent ducts and thats more of a pain in the butt then hard. |

So I just got back with my car, intake "issues" seem to be resolved after re-install of intake no strange behavior when in idle, also taking the revs no problem.
Dynobutt feels powergain, but mostly/only last 1500 rpm. Sound of FI and Stillen combo is aaaaawsome, definitely more louder that I expected to be with 18inch res and stock cats, pipe, headers. On my way home i was still wondering how they were able to reset ECU (as they stated) without erasing bord computer memory (avg fuel consuption etc.) Dont care too much about it, I ll do that on my own following known procedure... Till now, everything ok,but another nightmere begins with KW suspension instaled.... didnt decided yet if im gonna start second thread, first i do some research here, then we ll see... I want to say big THANK YOU to everybody who responded! |
