It is worth the wait. Consider FI's NR HFC, NR CB exhaust, and their stainless mufflers. You can go for Motordyne ART too......or SOHO. Look up martin82.

So much disagreement in this thread, lol.

1. F.I. (I prefer the 3" model, but have owned both)
2. AAM
3. The competition

I can't believe people actually even consider Borla. They even sound bad on domestics. I would prefer a hacked up stock or custom shop over that.............

Deep sounds aren't really my style but... Tanabe Medalion Touring? Not bad I think as far as the sound goes.

After reading a lot, watching hundreds of exhaust clips and hearing a few, looks like like the FI has the best quality, fit and customer service but I have heard ppl complaining about drone and hiss even on the 18 resonators and damn 3,4 months wait time? If there's so much demand why can't theses guys keep em on stock?
Now sound has to go to Motordyne, the Shockwave sounds the best of all, at least to me, and looks like it's one of the few ones without a hiss or drone but very exotic sound @WOT just a bit overpriced... I've been exhaust hunting for a couple months now and it looks like it's gonna be the Motordyne exhaust, now... How and where do I get the best deal?
To the op whatever you end up getting will be better than the stock system which sucks, the exhaust on my stock 350HR always sounded great Nissan dropped the ball on its successor...

They are built to order so they aren't being stocked. You call and order what you want and they build it from scratch.

I lucked out and found one in the classifieds. They pop up from time to time. I called F.I. for a new gasket and hardware set. Great customer service, easy to order from, prompt replies to questions and Kevin even emailed me a PDF of the install directions since I purchased used.

Is there any reason for that aside from lower overhead costs? Surely it would make sense to keep just a few in stock to avoid people not wanting to wait and losing a sale.

No clue honestly. I'm sure they've given a reason somewhere on here.

Supply and demand concept. You will pay a lot more with little to no supply. Waiting 3 months for a high dollar exhaust is ridiculous when there is so much competition out there but it is US made so a little justification for them there.
I still prefer the custom route at my local muffler shop. You can do the same setup at half the cost installed and be driving down the road with it in a couple of hours. Buy a good set of axle backs and take them with you.
Your resonators length is key to the tone you are looking for.

I agree with you going custom - I've done that on my last few cars and have had great success. I still can't believe people are paying $400+ for 'short tails' when it would literally cost $50 and a pair of tips to create one at a shop.

So why does Borla get no love? The price could for sure be lower, I agree. I've read posts that it just has no sound, I think it has a deep somewhat American muscle type growl. I also realize the gains aren't cost efficient but I'm willing to bet most people arguing about gains don't even track but just like to drive fast on the interstate, as do I, but could someone who actually knows exhausts inside and out explain to me why Borla gets no love. In the end its personal preference I get it but I'd just like an explanation from a logical non biased stand point. Although I'm willing to bet I've answered my own question when I mentioned price and gains. Thanks.
