Because tp + straight pipe? Lets not generalize. Not all FI sounds the same.

Awful? You're the only person who has ever thought that. May need to get your hearing checked.

FI makes the best sounding and best quality exhaust on the market.

What is different about yours? It honestly seemed ridiculously loud. It was out in cranberry on 19 last year. Maybe you had a different set up then?

Same setup. You're either 50+ years old or you have no concept of a real exhaust.

Nope, Im 28 not 16 anymore. I don't want to worry about getting pulled over every time I get on the car.

Ummm... he has straight pipes from the headers back. Why do you think it was so loud? Most FI exhausts have resonators in at least one (if not two) locations that quiets them down quite a bit compared to FP's setup.

Also 28 and I don't worry about getting pulled over. Exhaust has been on for a year now and never been pulled over for it. Your argument is invalid.

Okay good to know. Not trying to offend FP, that just doesn't sound good to me. I had a loud exhaust on my STI and I used to get pulled over for it all the time. That car had a reason to be loud though (upgraded turbo, external wastage, equal length headers, etc). I don't see the benefit at all on these cars to have a zero back pressure exhaust. I'd rather have a little more torque then worry about not gaining a couple horsepower any day.

You will need to factor in drone as well as sound for your car. I have run three different setups so far all of which are custom and are not name brand specific
My first setup was a true dual exhaust with the stock muffler. Idle and low rpms sounded fine. Wot sounded horrible but no drone at all.
My second setup was the same true dual with 12" resonators and top speed axle backs to replace the stock muffler. It was loud at startup and screamed at wot but the drone was driving me crazy
My 3rd and current setup I had a custom X pipe, true dual, 18" resonators with my top speed axle back. End result was a lot quieter lower rumble tone with minimal drone. Everyone I have had listen to tell me they loved the sound.
If I set it up right the first time my exhaust would have cost about $600 and that's including the axle backs but I have spent over well over $1000 to get the sound with no drone effect. Any way you go, you should make sure you are getting 18" resonators from any choice of system out there. You will get the lower deeper growl you are looking for

I would say FI resonated setup is the way to go for sound and power... the only time it is obnoxiously loud are cold starts... other than that I feel that it has the right tone... I've listen to many exhaust setups on Youtube on my computer with my Astro A50 headphones and Klipsch Promedia 2.1 (I'm using a Creative titanium hd soundcard) that reproduces the sounds well.

Whatever exhaust you get will sound lightyears better then stock. There was a 370z next to mine on at the stop light the other day and I rolled down the windows and let him go first to hear it...thing sucks donkey butt.

bkngo 03-16-2015 06:44 PM

I really like the sound and look of the Ark exhaust but I wanted something with a little bit more power... FI met my needs... no regrets
