K&N 69-7078TS Intake or Stillen 370z Generation 3 Ultra Long Tube Dual Intake
I would like to know what is the difference between these 2 Intakes, K&N 69-7078TS Intake and Stillen 370z Generation 3 Ultra Long Tube Dual Intake. I personally like the K&N intake more but if there is a big difference between the long intake and the short intake, I would reconcider and probably get the long intake if its worth it. Help! Please and Thank You!
P.S. I have a 2013 Z. |
The K&N intake is a short ram intake which the filter is inside the engine bay which is susceptible for heat soak when running at low speed which in turn suck in warm air than cold air, which makes it less efficient in fuel and performance.
The long tube is located outside the engine bay which prevents heat soaking for happening. That is why the stillen performs better than short rams. |
I have the Stillen Gen 3 on my 2013 and I love it. If you got the $$ to spend and the time to install it, Stillen is the way to go. The install isn't too bad. Probably takes a few hours to install and will take a little time to clean it eventually since you have to pull the front bumper completely off. If that's not a worry for you...then get the Stillen.

Well OP just to let you know I do have the k&N got it because it look nice inside the engine bay. So far my car runs very fast I really dont feell i lost any power but I do have other bolt ons such as full exhaust.
It depends what is your intensions with your mods. I like to see the filters that is why I bought the K&N. But what other members have said are right. But you have the right to choose whats best for you. We only provide options. Attachment 98340 Mine is wrapped with thermal shields. |

Well I'm confused I would talk so much crap about short Rams but if they have a heat shield around them then are they still able to get heat soak from the engine?
I thought the shorter tubes would make the air have to travel through less tubing which I thought was a better thing. On another note the heat shield is plastic isn't it? So how much of a barrier to heat is it really? I have to many questions myself. I might just get the stillen so I won't have to know if I'm harming my performance or not. short ram is useless, not sure why they make them. i think any long tube intakes does a good job of making small power, stillen might be the best option out there.

Long tubes are more expensive but have proven to make more power. Z1 makes a great long tube setup with color/options. Also is cheaper ($500) and easier to install than the Stillen G3s.

I bought it for 3 reasons: It only cost me 240 bucks, i wanted louder intake noises, and i didn't want to pull the bumper off of my new car to install intakes. With the heat shields i cant fathom it hurts performance over stock, especially with getting rid of the trojan ultra ribbed hoses. *EDIT: Learning to spell |

If you're not going long tube just get high flow drop in filters and some post maf tubes. It's better than any short ram set up. |
