Exhaust Quieter Over time?
Hi guys, I recently started up my car with a full cat back meisterschaft on it for the first time in a week and the cold start sounds significantly quieter than it used to be. Also i took it around the block and it also sounds much quieter than before as well. Does anyone know what might be causing this?

New exhausts need in a sense time to break in
That leads to them to quiet a little over time. Perfectly normal |
with the temp change the cam advance may be diff than when its warm . i have notice that the z is always louder for the first 30 seconds or so when you start it due to the advance when you first start it . since its gotten colder outside ive noticed mines not as loud for that first 20 or 30 seconds as it was when it was warm outside . also in the past i have notice that exhaust always dose get a little less loud when its broken in . not a lot but enough to notice . might be a combo of both of these things .

I see thanks for the suggestions. I'm not sure but i've had the exhaust installed for a good 8 months now but only now am i hearing the difference in sound become more significant

I suspect that Element600ee is right and the car is just reacting to different temperatures. As several others have said, mufflers usually get louder over time. I've never run into one that got quieter but I don't have much experience with modern exhausts.
Check your MPG - if you have a restriction, it may show up there. |
Either your hearing is starting to go, or you got a mouse building a nest in the muffler. Don't laugh, I've seen it happen.
