I want a louder exhaust for track days
So, I have the Fast Intentions LTH and 12" resonated CBE. It has been tuned and sounds great on the street. The problem is everytime I got to track day events, I feel the exhaust is too tame. Cutouts? Where? Any suggestions? Thanks.

Get tony to build you some turn downs after the x-pipe or a straight piped rear section.

I'd like to be able to switch back to my current setup on the street too.

I would be carful with making your car louder for the track. I don't know NC very well but some tracks and autox events have a noise restriction. I would research this before making your car louder. But I would do turn down cutouts as they sound louder and the noise doesn't carry as far since the flow is downward.

Better watch out. Some tracks have a db limit on noise. Some as low as 93 db. So find out at the tracks you go to. Nothing worst then being black flagged. Coming in and them telling you. Your day is done.

I hear ya. I just moved here from San Diego and the tracks I've been to in CA do not have a restriction (except Laguna Seca and Sonoma I believe)

Jeez, all tracks in Australia have a 75Db @ 30 metres drive-by for non-race days and open race days are 95Db @ 30 metres drive by and it is rigidly enforced .. too noisy you are black-flagged and asked to fix it.
Go out again and breach the limit, regardless of what you did, and you go home !! |

OP it sounds like you answered your own question already. Just check the regs on the tracks you will be going to. Also another trick to silence youre exhaust that some the SCCA guys spoke about was putting steel vagina's in the tail pipe, wire mesh, and a hose clamp to quiet it down abit. But that's a temp fix for a few hours, IMO I would just get a dual E-Cut out with a turn down and call it a day, im sure your VQ will be heard just fine. |

For bikes it was some crazy test of like a db meter at 3-4 feet at a 45* angle from the tip with the motor reved to half of redline. That test couldn't be over 105db.

All you have to lift off the throttle at the dB stations, at most usually 2 on the track and are fixed in place. Lots of guys do this, but you cant be chasing that last second in a real race, going to loose a little time lifting, but not much to notice on normal track days.
