Anyone custom fab dual intakes from these?
Hey guys,
I've been lurking for awhile and noticed CAI vs short ram, with problems of having to remove the bumper for the CAI to clean, while issues of heat soak in some of the short ram intakes. I was wondering if anyone thought to give these a try: BMC AIR FILTERS mike |
Been lurking for a while? With a join date of today? Hmm...okie doke. Anyway, to your question, it looks like Modshack's setup.

i think the main problem with most of the CAI's are the filters themselves. they suction from the sides.
if you look at HKS and JWT's venturi's, they suction directly from the front. i think that alone is a big improvement vs the normal cone shaped filters. modshack's coffeecan design is a good idea as long as the can itself is not a restriction. i might do something like that down the road. |

i've seen modshack's setup, but i don't think i'd custom everything like he did myself, so i was wondering about the BMC filters in particular |

Well...let's say I'm not a fan. First, they are Very expensive ($300+ EACH), 2nd, they have an odd flow pattern (through the center of the filter, out to the shell, then swirled), and third they have swirl Tabs in them which disrupts airflow over the MAF (you want that airflow smooth for best readings). Some of that can be fixed, some not. I just sold one I bought to autopsy. The Thin CF tube is not much of a heat shield. The swirl tabs are curious....Kinda like getting a "Tornado" for free....(Woof) http://images32.fotki.com/v1092/phot...MG_0412-vi.jpg |
