Exhaust Recommendation(s)

I am looking into exhaust for my Z and I have heard mixed reviews about pretty much all fabrications. So if anyone would like to give advice or recommendations on a specific direction (and why) I would love the feedback!

Here's what I'm considering...

TDX CAT Back Exhaust System;
•Components are constructed of T-304 stainless steel.

•2.5" NON POLISHED stainless steel tubing.

•6"x14" round carbon fiber perforated core mufflers.

•4.5" resonated dual wall slash cut polished stainless steel tips.

•The X Pipe has 3 options. Non Resonated, 12" Resonators or 18" Resonators (I'm considering).

BENEFITS
•An increased average of 20 RWH & 11 LBS of torque over the stock cat back.

•Refining the stock note by increasing the depth and volume.

•Absolutely NO RASP from RPM idle to RPM red line.

•Carbon fiber (muffler) system weighs 41 LBS = 16 LBS lighter than stock.

Now I know there are plenty systems out there, but I am just looking for a good/benificial fit for my Z.

I am on the exhaust quest right now too. From what I understand the 18" resonated CBE is the quietest option they offer but have had a friend who had it and said it still had drone(never got to hear it while he had it, he sold it very quickly because of that fact). People on here swear by this exhaust and some say the 18" is very mild and a conversation on the highway can still be had with little to no issue. It's very hard to decide when you hear conflicting experiences. I wish I could just hear these in person. From
My experience on this forum, take people's experiences with a grain of salt.

i did my research before i bought exhaust for my z .. a lot of research . if you want quiet and no rasp at all go with the nismo r ( not the same as what comes on the nismos thats a nismo s exhaust the r is a duel exhaust with and balance pipe or h pipe where the oem and the nismo s both have a y pipe they goin into 1 and then back out into two ) exhaust or the stillen . both make good power and are not loud at all . i just put my the test pipes on and my nismo r exhaust yesterday and im very happy with the decision i made . removing the cats made it a little louder and i mean a very little tiny bit louder . but as far as im conerned its perfect . its loud enough when you get on it its obviously not stock , but where your cruzing its no louder than oem a touch deeper in tone but no louder .. no po po will be bothering me . im getting tuned at AAM on the 14th so i guess we will see what kinda power she makes then . , prolly a few less ponies than if i had ear piercing exhaust . most people dont realize the cats rob more power than the stock intakes and exhaust do put together .

I hear what ya'll are saying. I've found a few videos of different exhaust installations that vary in sound, but if anything I prefer something with a smooth deeper tone that has minimal cabin noise (i.e. the resonators) like the TDX, but still loud outside the rear. I'm not 100% sold on the exhaust yet so I am open to any other options. If anyone can embed a video of the cold starts or revs that would be awesome to go with your recommendation! Thanks in advance!

There is a "STICKY" Thread on this subject and 5 billion other threads open on this topic. Use google and you tube. It will save you time and grief of clogging this section up with repeat threads all asking the same thing.

Videos really don't do an exhaust justice, it would be better if you could attend a meet and hear them in person. I have not heard one person call the Stillen exhaust loud so that one is probably a safe bet. Conflicting experiences on the 18" resonated FI CBE is enough to scare me away. If it wasn't so expensive, it might be different.

Where did you find the best price for your Nismo R CBE?

No drone with the addition of your TPs?

Edit: I'm not even seeing a Nismo R exhaust for the 370Z. Do you have a link?

I agree. Thanks for the input.

the one guy hit the nail on the head with there being about a million threads on this already so there is plenty of info.

but i will say easiest way to pick your exhaust is know exactly what you want, research to find a close match, then purchase.

you have to decide on volume, rasp, drone, gains, and price.
