AAM SHORT TAILS S-line emission canister sheild

Do you all think it's possible to install the short tails without removing the emission canister sheild?

I tried to see if I could leave it on. However, when test fitting, the aam piping would touch the shield, so I had to take it off.

Alright thank you I was just asking because my dealer said it would void my warranty if I take the sheild off.

It would void the emissions portions of the warranty only. Every other warranty would be intact.

Void:
Federal Emission Performance 24 months / 24,000 miles
Federal Emission Defect 36 months / 36,000 miles
Federal Emission Long Term Defect 96 months / 80,000 miles
California Emission Performance 36 months / 50,000 miles**
California Emission Defect 36 months / 50,000 miles**
California Emission Long Term Defect 84 months / 70,000 miles**

Not Void:
Basic Coverage 36 months / 36,000 miles
Corrosion Coverage (Perforation) 60 months / UNLIMITED MILEAGE
Powertrain Coverage 60 months / 60,000 miles
Seat Belt 120 months/unlimited mileage

Dealers know how to sell cars, thats about it.

Just ordered my AAM short tails. There's got to be someone who modified their emission shied without totally removing it. Would like to hear from those who have done something before I do my install.

Had fitment issue with driver's side tail. Worked with AAM and received replacement tails sent via next day air. Installed and extremely happy with the look and sound. Much thanks to Jason with AAM who provided excellent customer service. Here's a couple pics:

Hi Virtuo. Here's a pic of the emmissions canister shield and there are 4 bolts holding it on. Let me know if you have any more questions.

Jason out of curiosity do you know if the canister shield was discontinued or only used on sport/Nismo?

I installed the tails on my 2013 base and didn't have anything there that was even remotely close to the tails.:

Zero,

We have seen a few come though our shop that haven't had the shield, but we haven't noticed if it's one particular model. Now that you've peaked my interest, I'm going to have our techs keep track.
