Z1 Manifold

Ok guys I've searched here on myg37 and couldn't really find anything on the Z1. Heck I only found 3 threads on the Motordyne and one guy lost 10WHP?
Why is there more on the internet about the Motordyne on than Z1?
I want to get the Z1 for one reason one Motordyne thread had some info on the Z1 and the Z1 made more overal and up top. And the other is it's half the price ?
Anyone with real info or data on the Z1 not just what Z1 claims .
Thanx guys

Z1 mainfold hasn't been out as long, no one seems to have gotten one and dynoed it, only have the z1 dyno to rely on.

Yeah I'm interested in folks trying their 400HP (at crank) package without the test pipes. I'd like to see dyno of that.

I have the manifold and just got tuned at Z1 last Friday. Put down 322 / 260. I'm going to e-mail them tomorrow to see if they saved any of my charts. John did mention that I would be down on power because of the humidity. He has been seeing about a 15 WHP loss on their other cars.

My mods, that would affect the tune / WHP.

Stillen G3 intakes
Bored throttle bodies
Z1 manifold
NST UD pulley
Fast Intentions LTH
Motordyne resonated Y pipe
Tomei 3" single exhaust
Competition Clutch 18 LB flywheel

Won't the stillen intakes be choking the bored throttle bodies

aszyd 08-03-2014 07:49 PM

It's possible, but I'm pretty much done with this round of the engine build. So I'm not going to spend the money on fabbing up a new intake.

I have family in GA, so perhaps closer to the holidays, I can look into getting a new intake and port matching the lower manifold. Then, paying another visit to Z1 for a retune, while I am up there with the family.

I'm not ready to pull another round trip to GA just for a few extra HP.

That being said, I am seriously considering a Boosted Performance single turbo build. It won't happen for quite some time, but why spend any more money if I am going to tear it all out for FI?

Thanx man , but to many mods to see just what the intake would do, LTH, and HFCS, intake and exhaust , will net you 315 or so WHP on their own.
I'm just trying to get an idea what gains from just the manifold are
I won't be getting headers and only maybe FI RHFC'S .

I am doing the same. I am now done doing anything to the motor. Planning a BP kit for this winter. Got everything I want besides the Tomie shorty headers which I will pair with that kit.

Also was 322 SAE or STD?

Why would the g3's choke the bored TB? If the TB are bored that means they are able to get more air in there.

after talking to people and after selling the TB's to aszyd i think yes. a system should run large to small and not small to large. think of a turbo compressor. as the area shinks the air speeds up. the Stillen is good for OEM as both the Stillen and OEM TB's are 2.35" ID. now that he has 2.48" ID TB's the system is backwards. I'll be testing this on the 8th as I too have the TB's, upper and also a lower mani thats ported but i made a new intake thats going from 2.35" ID like the Stillen to 2.63" ID so the system will go larger to smaller.
