my car made the 298 (4th) with just the exhaust and no tune. stock y pipe, stock cats and stock intakes.. from what i see the berk cat back and Berk high flow cats didn't even make that!! my car made much less power with the stock exhaust. its not a comparison to stock but he is showing the with just the y pipe back section the car made 306 at the wheels.

as for flow the y-pipe is the choke point on these vehicles no matter what size it is the y pipe will still restrict it. so unless you have a true dual 2.5 inch then you're not actually flowing more than a single three. The numbers dont lie man! i was very very surprised what my car made with just a y-back on it. also he didn't tune for power. i asked soho to smooth out my fuel table because it was leaning out at the top so he did. still has room for more! they have a 8XX rwhp g with a single exit exhaust i dont think we should be worried lol

as for the exhaust price i thought it was really good for the overall gains and sound

What was your stock whp number?

Gregor12 08-29-2014 05:16 PM

i didn't dyno mine stock. didnt get around to it but considering all 370z's put down 270-280 on a dyno jet stock i'm guessing it was around there!

I do have a true dual 2.5, almost every other exhaust on the market is dual 2.5 or dual 3" and his 8xxwhp car is DEFINITELY over single 3" capacity. A dual 3" picks 40-50hp over a dual 2.5" on turbo z's that are only in the 500whp range I couldn't imagine how choked that car must be. Hell a stillen exhaust picks up 10-15 hp NO "smoothing the fuel curve" needed. I used to know a guy with a supra and he went up almost 150hp when he threw out his single 3" it took him from 750-almost 900hp going to a 4" But regardless there was what a week of R&D and maybe $200 in parts in this? It's not even polished

Edit: I got to throw in that hes using an intake t bolt clamp instead of a real exhaust band clamp as well because a t bolt is $3 and a real accuseal clamp is $12

Lol man idk why you're hating on the exhaust so much. And no there aren't that many actual true dual exhausts on the market. Your exhaust joins at the xpipe right??. It is what it is. I liked it and bought it so I just thought I would share it. And they have a single 3.5 inch on the g. That's my bad. Regardless. I still made more power for less compared to the berk exhaust. And it weighs less. And 200 bucks seriously??? Go build your own custom exhaust and see how much money it will cost lol I'll buy there y pipe and test pipes and **** on the berk system haha 296 with high flow cats and a dual catback is a joke. I made more in 4th for a few hundred less dollars. That's what I wanted so that why I bought it. As for the clamp it's worked very well so far and it left no slack when I installed it. Jerked on the exhaust a few times to see if it would budge. Over all I'm impressed with the exhaust. Just my opinion

Hey it's all opinion if it gets your rocks off go for it, but you paid too much. Here are what his cost should be on this Vibrant 1062 - $98, 5 ft of 3" 304 $110 with bends (or ~$60 if he gets them mandrel bent), T-bolt clamp $3, hardware $1, Flange $12, Gasket $3.25, and $30-50 overhead to pay someone to make 5 welds. So 250-270 and if goes with mandrel bending it will save roughly $100 a pipe. I could have this made with a beter muffler and tip, a vband instead of a coupler clamp, and get it polished for $250. Also an X pipe doesn't reduce the CSA of twin 2.5" tubing just as an FYI the pipes cross each other there is no choke it actually increases overall flow due to harmonics. I would not call that a finished version by a long shot if he made it better by putting a bit more work into the quality of it i would have no complaints but hey someone will pay for it.

$700 isn't a terrible price. The gains aren't bad considering the stock Y pipe is like drinking out of a coffee straw. I love the sound of single exits, but it takes a hit on aesthetics compared to a dual. I still think it's helps having another player to choose from

Hey man sorry you feel that way. 700 bucks wasn't **** to me for a good sounding single exit exhaust that made 300hp and shredded some weight. You need to add about 150 more dollars at least to your list though. The muffler is 200. And 30 bucks? What you think. It all comes pre cut and lined up haha don't forget they have to pay to ship it and ****. I thought it was a good deal anyways. To each his own man. They brought something cool to our community. No need to bash it and act like they're ripping people off. It's 700 dollars for a good exhaust.

I agree with you on that. Once I buy the y pipe I think it will really open it up! I wanted a dual as well but it sounded awesome so I bought it haha

Sounds really good, the system however doesn't look too professional, kinda shoddy looking if you ask me

dude i pulled those numbers straight from my price sheets, i place orders with fab shops, i used to track efficiency on an in house welding and fab cell, if soho is spending more than that they are buying the parts from the wrong vender or they have some efficiency issues to look into

Gotcha. Well I have no idea haha I just bought the exhaust because I liked it and I know they do very good work. Oh yea. And I hit 300whp for 700 bucks and lost some weight. So it's awesome in my opinion

SOHO is a good shop, I've been there a couple of times. $700 sounds reasonable to me, but I couldn't go single exhaust when dual is stock. However, their final product does look much better than the prototypes.

I'm happy with my Soho Motorsports single exit!!
