It really depends on what your doing with the car to be honest, the reason I hang around the forums is I am considering buying another Z, while boost was a blast, there is more up keep, and actually overall lost some joy with the car when doing tight twisty driving, which where I live now has a ton of great driving roads and a 500+ whp Z would not be the best car for enjoying them. I think if I bought another Z I would take all the money I spent on boost and put all the money into suspension, diff etc, and make one mean NA handling Z, then when the new hopefully factory turbo Z comes out, have my boost fun with that car.

If people like the single maybe we'll fix the hole on the other side issue with a dry carbon insert to block it so it looks like OEM is supposed to only have one muffler. :stirthepot:

Already available.

Trust me I know haha. I would do half mile events and airstrip runs. Also a fun weekend car. I've has the car for a year and 5 months and have been in the twists once. Sad but true. Also a good boosted car is fun on the track as well. That's where the purpose of the build comes into play. Small twins for instant boost at a low rpm or a big good turbo to make lots of pow pow uptop. Oh and race my brother with his boosted 5.0 lol

Honestly at this price point for a single exhaust system why not look at getting one custom built? I got a full 3" mandrel bent turboback system on a past car for like $600.

Could I just get any muffler I want? Or how would I go about that?

As long as it's a 3" inlet I don't see why not. All they'd have to do is weld a hangar on it, super easy. When I got mine built I bought two Magnaflow 'straight through' mufflers on eBay which looked just like the mufflers other pre-made systems used. Of course, you could buy resonators instead unless you want straight pipes

Mandrel bent is horrible for performance lol. It basically squeezes the pioe to bender giving it a smaller diameter. Building a custom exhaust like this one is going to cost you more. It it's not a easy setup on the Z. Cheaping out never ends well. I've made hat mistake already on my Subaru. Lost power over the stock exhaust with a mandrel bent straits pipe lol

I would ask soho. They might be able to do a different muffler set up for you. But you'd have to send it to him to fit it into the jig when he fabricates the exhaust. To make sure it clears and to weld on hangers

Wat. Mandrel bent means that the pipe is the same diameter even in bends, what you're thinking of is crush bent where the bends are a smaller diameter. I would not call a custom exhaust 'cheaping out' nor would I call the Z's exhaust complicated - there's like 2 bends.

Sorry. That was my mistake. I was thinking crush bend. And 2 bends? Don't forget you have to make the y-pipe there buddy. And it is complicated. Have you tried building one? Have you tried to clear the drive shaft, rear diff and sway, and rear chasis brace without having clearance issues with a three inch pipe? It's much more complicated than you're thinking. 2 bends my ***. I thought the same thing before though so I can't blame you lol. Going custom will usually cost the same if not more anyways. I was referring to crush bending when I said Cheaping out.

Ohh also, don't forget the center brace which has about a 4 inch hole after it bolts to the y pipe. Gotta clear that and make sure you're not hitting the brace without going to high and causing it to hit in the rear.

Yep, definitely not something I could build; however, in comparison to some other cars it's a fairly easy system. Of course every shop is different and it may cost more getting something built, I always think it's an option people overlook though.
