R2C Intake, any independent dyno results yet?

I've seen the dyno run that shows the R2C making the same peak power as the Stillen G3. While this may very well be representative of actual performance, I don't

I've seen the dyno run that shows the R2C making the same peak power as the Stillen G3. While this may very well be representative of actual performance, I don't think a dyno is a good test for a CAI. Measuring IAT vs ambient while driving seems to be more meaningful. 5 to 10 degrees above ambient has been achieved with either system, especially when coupled with fang vents. The quality of the filtration is much better with the R2C as is ease of access and install. On this board the Stillen G3 seems quite popular where the R2C is more favored with the G37 crowd. I'm going to measure IAT with the stock intake first, then do fang vents and measure again. If I get IAT's 5 to 10 degrees above ambient then the stock intake will work for me. Otherwise I'll try the R2C mainly because of its superior filtration capabilities. My 370Z should be here in a few weeks.

I think you mean ABOVE ambient...Easy mistake unless you have a refrigerated intake system going there!

On IAT's this may be interesting..

Zpirate just got a new 370 and swapped his Scangauge over from his 350. IAT's wit the stock box running approx 10-12 degrees over ambient when rolling

Some data on the Takeda (typical open element) had the owner reporting 20-25 over ambient.

Stillen G3's report 5-10 degrees over ambient.

My custom intake with fang vents are showing about the same 5-10 over

Typical open elements can and will spike to 150 degrees on a warm day in traffic. Fang vents pull those temps down very quickly though.

A stock system with Fang Vents would probably be an excellent combination

I think the best we can reasonably expect to see is around 5 degrees over.. Unfortunately we have no information that would tell us at what temps the car starts pulling timing..
I really think filtration has little to do with power made. A LARGE part of it is done with MAF tube tricks and general flow improvements.

Obviously I meant to say above ambient(edited to reflect correction). Maybe we could route an AC line around a coil on each intake to get 20 degrees below ambient. We used to ice down our intake manifolds right before a run at the dragstrip years ago.
My concern about filtration is for engine wear and longevity rather than max horsepower.

Im staying stock box with K&Ns and will do the vent DIY when if I ever have to take bumber off. Like Modshack says that should be about as good as the G3 and others like it. Maybe a few HP less but alot less $$$ too and wont have to take bumber off the clean filters. Even tho they say you can go so many thousands of miles without cleaning the filters I have found that even after a couple of months open filters get dirty and will affect intake flow so you will ahve to clean them regularly and Im not into taking my bumber off every couple months.

I have the R2C intake but never did a dyno comparison. I can tell you that the intake air temp is between 5-10 degrees above ambient (while moving) with the Modshack fang vent installed. The stock intake with fang vents produced similar results. The R2C filter is supposed to be one of the best on the market for air flow and filtration

any updates on this? i see so many people say theres no way short rams produce any types of gains.. the little information i see on the r2c intakes leads to believe they produce decent gains.

Someone did dyno it, If I remember correctly they made a negligible amount of power like every other short ram intake in the market.

No one on this board has dynoed it yet. Someone on the G37 board did and it made comparable gains to the Stillen G3
